Whilst at the Emergency Services Show, two of our Breaking Boundaries team were invited to take to the ‘Protect the Protectors’ Stage — and what an incredible opportunity it was!
B took to the stage to discuss Women in Search and Rescue: Kit Designed for Men - What Needs to Change.
This is a topic that’s gaining more and more attention across the SAR world, and rightly so. It’s not simply about how kit looks or feels, it’s about safety, performance and making sure our equipment is fit for the people who rely on it.
There were some fantastic discussions throughout the show, and it was brilliant to see some of the big names in the industry listening, engaging and getting behind the need for change.
Sophy, wearing her Hampshire Search & Rescue (HantSAR) hat, took to the stage as her team’s Deputy Water Lead to discuss Climate Threats: Preparing for Flooding.
With flooding becoming an increasing challenge for emergency responders, preparing for the changing risks we face is more important than ever. Another hugely relevant conversation, with plenty of food for thought.
We couldn’t be prouder of these two amazing women for stepping up, sharing their knowledge and helping to drive these conversations forward.
They represented not only their professions and their rescue teams, but also Breaking Boundaries, showing exactly why representation, knowledge and having women’s voices at the table matters.
Breaking boundaries. Starting conversations. Driving change. 💙
