ArmadaCon One of the southwest's longest running family friendly conventions, right here in Plymouth. SciFi and Fantasy, as well as gaming of all types and genres.

We're not for profit, run by volunteers, raising money for St Luke's hospice. Armadacon is Sci-Fi and Fantasy Convention that's been running in Plymouth since 1988. We aim to offer a friendly convention open to all Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans, whether you like, Doctor Who or Discworld, Star Wars or Anime, Armadacon welcomes you all. Covid-19 & Returning With Confidence
We aim to make ArmadaCon as safe and relaxed as possible. We’ve made changes to enable you to return with confidence. To protect our attendees, we know that you will be willing to follow these guidelines. Pre-Flight
Before you join us, please fulfil the following:

• Have had a negative result on a Lateral Flow Test within the previous 24 hours. We also advise you to:
• Be double vaccinated.
• Show proof of natural immunity shown by a positive PCR test result for COVID-19 following completion of your self-isolation period, if applicable. Testing
If you need it or are unable to test before you arrive, we will have plenty of Lateral Flow test kits available. We also have an experienced Lateral Flow tester on-site to help you through the process. Masks
Based on research and the hotel, Future Inns Plymouth, we would ask all of our attendees to wear a mask in the corridors and common areas. We would encourage the wearing of masks in the convention rooms when moving around. Distancing
We would ask the attendees to be aware of how near you are to other people and avoid crowding, especially at obvious bottlenecks. In the convention rooms, you are welcome to move your chair to give yourself the room to make yourself comfortable. This is as new to us as it is to you and we would welcome any suggestions and feedback to help us improve. Please let us know if you have any special concerns or issues.

Did yer know that on this day in 1854, eminent German maffematician Bernhard Riemann gave a lecture called 'On the 'ypotheses which lie at the foundations of Geometry' wot included a workable definition about 'ow ter measure the curvature of space. Iss now considered one of the most important works in geometry.

Riemann was born in 1826 and died of tuberculosis in Italy in 1866, aged just 39, but 'e left the world an amazin' legacy.

Celebrated on June 9th each year since 2012, it's a day where people around the world make a concerted effort to be excellent to each other. Yer can watch the movies or cartoon series, listen to the soundtracks, get someone new into the fandom - all sorts! Main fing is that you uphold the values of Bill an' Ted. There's even a 'ashtag fer all yer social media needs.

'Appy International tabletop Day, ev'ryone!

Iss always celebrated on the first Saturday in June and was created as a result of Wil Wheaton's excellent web series Tabletop (wot 'as cost me a lot o' gold over the years, cos I keep buyin' all the games 'e features).

So wevver you prefer RPGs, board games, dice or card games, take some time today to 'ave a play in celebration of the 'obby we all love!

'Appy Fank You Day!

First celebrated in the UK in 2021, it was intended as a day for acknowledgin' NHS staff an' other unsung 'eroes in local communities who 'elped to make peoples' lives better durin' the COVID pandemic. It was a way of sayin' fank you, as well as to build community spirit after lockdown finally ended.

So fank you to everyone ev'rywhere 'oo selflessly works to 'elp ovver people.

'Appy birfday to actor Angelina Jolie, born on this day in 1975! She's bin in a bunch o' movies, includin' bringin' Tomb Raider's Lara Croft to life in 2001. She's one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors, and 'as won numerous awards.

As well as 'er presence on screen in movies like A Mighty 'Eart (2007), Changeling (2008) and Maria (2024), she's also voiced characters in animated films, includin' the Kung Fu Panda franchise. She's written and directed war movies like In the Land of Blood an' Honey (2011) and Unbroken (2014), and when she's not actin', she does a lot of 'umanitarian work. She's a Special Envoy for the United Nations 'Igh Commissioner for Refugees, visitin' war zones an' refugee camps.

'Allo ev'ryone! On this day in 2019, the first series of Good Omens was broadcast, starrin' the excellent David Tennant and Michael Sheen, 'oos bromance produced gems like Staged, filmed over zoom in lockdown.

Good Omens won a bunch of awards for fings like Best Actor (David Tennant, Scottish Comedy Award), Favourite SciFi/Fantasy/'Orror Series (Tell-Tale TV Awards - also, Michael Sheen won their Favourite Performer Award), an' Favourite On-Demand Show (TV Times Award).
