👏 A Refreshingly Different BNI Pilgrim Presentation – Making a Real Difference in Plymouth!

A huge thank you to Daniel Walker of The Plym Group Ltd for delivering a truly inspiring and refreshingly different featured presentation at BNI Pilgrim this morning!

Rather than focusing on the services his company provides, Dan shared something equally important – how Plym Group is giving back to our Plymouth community and investing in the next generation.

It was fantastic to hear about the 15 charities Plym Group supports and the many ways the business is making a positive impact, including:

✅ Offering work placements and apprenticeship opportunities to young people.

✅ Partnering with local charities, schools and training providers to develop skills and career opportunities.

Each year, our BNI Pilgrim Leadership Team completes its term. Our President; Scott Simpson, Vice President; Tom Dawson and Secretary Treasurer; Corben Fice passed the Leadership baton to a new Team, while recognising our members, who have supported them and helped with our Chapter's success.

Today, our President reflected on what BNI Pilgrim Plymouth has achieved over the past 12 months:

🏆 Membership grew by 24% year on year; to more than 30 business owners. Pilgrim is now ranked sixth among the Country’s Silver Status Chapters, (BNI is a network of 449 UK chapters and around 10,000 members in the UK).

🏆 Members passed 1,402 referrals to one another, up 43% year on year.

🏆 Those referrals generated more than £2.5 million in business between Pilgrim members, an increase of 87% year on year.

These results reflect the commitment of our members and the time and care given by everyone who has taken on a supporting role. A heartfelt thank you to our outgoing Leadership Team for guiding our Chapter and handing it over in such great shape to our new Leadership Team:

📢 Is Your HR Documentation Protecting Your Business?

BNI Pilgrim heard from HR Consultant, Jonathan Keable of Business Success HR, who highlighted why keeping your employee documentation up to date has never been more important.

With some of the biggest changes to UK employment law in a generation taking effect and further changes on the horizon, JK reminded members that what may have worked for a business several years ago may no longer provide the protection an employer needs today.

Adding his usual touch of humour, JK brought the subject to life with a case study demonstrating how a lack of appropriate HR documentation and records can quickly turn an employee issue into a much bigger—and potentially costly—problem for an employer.

His message was simple: document it, keep it up to date and don't wait until you have an employee problem to discover the gaps.

JK also reminded members of the forthcoming employment law changes and the importance of reviewing key HR documentation, including:

• Apprenticeship Agreements ✅

• Staff Handbooks ✅
