πŸ’œβ˜• Thank You Sara! β˜•πŸ’œ

A huge thank you to Sara, our Epilepsy Specialist Nurse, for joining us at our monthly meet-up last week. It was a great opportunity for everyone to ask questions, share experiences and receive advice and support. 🌟

We had some really positive discussions around medication, PIP and adapting to life with epilepsy, with plenty of encouragement and understanding shared throughout the afternoon πŸ’œ

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a welcoming and supportive meeting.

Also a BIG thank you to Sue and Clare, our awesome volunteers. We would be lost without you πŸ™

Our family have been through a lot due to epilepsy. We want the government to change the law so that anyone working in a child or vulnerable adult care setting goes through seizure training as part of their training, before starting the job.

β˜•πŸ’œ Just a reminder that our next Coffee & Chat is taking place next week, on Wednesday 10th June from 12:00pm–2:00pm at Plymouth Unitarian Church (main hall).

We are delighted that Sara, our Epilepsy Nurse, will be joining us for an informal Q&A session. If you have any questions you'd like Sara to answer, please pop them in the comments below. Even if you've asked a question before, feel free to post it again so Sara has a chance to see it beforehand and come prepared.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this month's meeting due to health reasons, but our wonderful volunteers Clare and Sue will be there to give you all a warm welcome.

Whether you're living with epilepsy, a seizure disorder, supporting a loved one, or simply looking to connect with others who understand, we'd love to see you there.

Have a wonderful meeting everyone!

Best wishes,

Caroline πŸ’œ

What a fantastic day on Saturday for Alana’s Epilepsy Mission first children and families event πŸ’œ

It was a huge success, and we are truly grateful to Alana and her mum Katie for setting up and organising such a lovely, supportive day for children and their families affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders. Hopefully this is the first of many events to come!

A huge thank you to Katie Ann for organising everything and to everyone involved in making the day so special. We look forward to hearing your feedback and will keep you all posted about the next one πŸ’œ

In the meantime, we’ll see you at the next Group meeting on Wednesday 10th June at 12pm at the Plymouth Unitarian Church Plymouth, where Sara, our epilepsy nurse, will be joining us.

Everyone is welcome β€” we look forward to seeing you there πŸ’œ

It was a fantastic turnout and so lovely to share coffee, chat, and support with everyone 😊

We’re especially grateful to Sara for speaking with us about seizure first aid and the support and guidance available. It was a really helpful and informative session, and we truly appreciate the time she took to come and speak with the group πŸ™

Thank you again, Sara β€” we’re very grateful to have your input and support πŸ’œ

Sara will be joining us again next month on Wednesday 10th June, 12pm at Plymouth Unitarians for a Q&A session. She would like to receive any questions beforehand so she can prepare, so please send them over in advance ✨

Please put any questions you would like to ask Sara in the comments below πŸ’¬ If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you can also send a private message to the page and I will make sure she receives them.

We look forward to seeing you all then! πŸ’œ

πŸ’ FREE Guide to Boost Your Immune System β€” Just for You πŸ’

πŸ’š Our immune system is essential for protecting us from bacteria, viruses, parasites and more. Keeping it strong is key for both physical and mental wellbeing.

✨ Key factors that weaken immunity: β€’ Processed foods & refined sugar
β€’ Lack of sleep or poor quality sleep
β€’ Stress, anxiety & low mood
β€’ Smoking & excess alcohol
β€’ Too little or too much exercise
β€’ Poor nutrition / dieting / malnutrition
β€’ Certain medications & antibiotics

πŸ’ͺ Key factors that strengthen immunity: β€’ A nutritious, colourful diet rich in antioxidants
β€’ Regular balanced exercise
β€’ Quality sleep
β€’ Fresh air & time in nature
β€’ Sunshine / Vitamin D
β€’ Laughter, happiness & positive wellbeing

🌿 Top tips for a strong immune system:

1️⃣ Eat a balanced, colourful diet
Antioxidants in fruit & vegetables help fight free radicals and support recovery and immunity.

2️⃣ Exercise in moderation
Boosts immunity, improves sleep, reduces stress, increases metabolism and improves mood.

3️⃣ Get enough Vitamin D
The β€œsunshine vitamin” supports bones and immune function. Found in sunlight, oily fish, eggs, dairy and supplements if needed.
