🐝🌼 Bees - small pollinators, big impact
Today is World Bee Day, a chance to celebrate bees and other pollinators and to recognise the vital role they play in our food system, natural environment and everyday lives.
Bees help pollinate many of the crops and wild plants we rely on, supporting:
🌱 Food production
🌼 Biodiversity
🌍 Healthy ecosystems
Here in Plymouth, pollinators can be found everywhere, from gardens and allotments to parks, road verges and wildflower spaces. But habitat loss, climate change and pesticide use are putting increasing pressure on their populations.
The good news? Small local actions really do help:
🌸 Planting pollinator‑friendly flowers
🪴 Letting parts of gardens grow wild
🚫 Reducing pesticide use
🤝 Supporting local nature and community projects such as Pollenize CIC
Protecting bees is part of protecting a healthier, more resilient Plymouth for people and nature alike 💚
