Our CEO, Anna Moss, recently joined the The Plymouth Astor Trust - VHS to celebrate the work of organisations across the city.

We’re really grateful to the Trust for awarding The Zone a grant towards our counselling service, helping us continue to provide vital support to young people across Plymouth.

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October

Looking after your mental health doesn't have to mean making big changes. Sometimes, it's the small things we do every day that can make a difference.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing are simple things we can all try to help look after ourselves:

💚 Connect – spend time with people who make you feel good.
💚 Give – do something kind for someone else.
💚 Keep Learning – try something new.
💚 Take Notice – pause and pay attention to how you're feeling.
💚 Be Active – find a way to move that you enjoy.

There's no pressure to do everything at once. Find what works for you and remember that your mental health matters every day, not just today.

Homelessness doesn’t always look like sleeping rough.

For young people, homelessness can mean sofa surfing, staying in temporary accommodation, living somewhere unsafe or not knowing where they will sleep.

The Zone supports young people facing housing uncertainty, working alongside them to help prevent homelessness and provide support when they need it. 💙

What a few weeks it’s been!

We’ve been out and about across Plymouth during Freshers, meeting young people, visiting schools and colleges, sharing information and connecting students with support.

From City College Plymouth Freshers, the University of Plymouth UPSU Wellbeing Fair and Arts University Plymouth to visiting schools and delivering va**ng awareness sessions, we’ve had a brilliant few weeks getting out into the community.

It’s been a great opportunity to tell young people more about the wide range of support available through The Zone, including sexual health, counselling, drugs and alcohol support, wellbeing, homelessness prevention and housing support.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who have given their time to support us at events and activities over the past few weeks. We couldn’t do it without you! 🙌

It’s been brilliant meeting so many young people, hearing about their experiences and interests, and helping them find out more about the support available to them. 💙

We’ve also had the chance to spend time with some fantastic organisations and services across Plymouth, learning more about what they offer and how we can work together to support young people.

WE’RE RECRUITING – JOIN THE ZONE

The Zone is expanding its support for young people in Plymouth, and we’re looking for people with the skills and experience to make a real difference to young people.

We’re currently recruiting for:

🔹 Project Manager – SAFE Zone
Lead the development and delivery of a new early intervention service, helping to prevent homelessness and rough sleeping.

🔹 Early Intervention Housing Support Workers – SAFE Zone (2 posts)
Provide practical, personalised support to young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing housing instability or at risk of homelessness.

🔹 Deputy Lead – Youth Housing & Homelessness Practitioner – ZAP
Join our established ZAP team, combining direct support for young people with day-to-day leadership and development of the service.

These roles offer an opportunity to join The Zone at an important stage in our development, helping to establish a prevention-led approach that supports young people before they reach crisis point and strengthens pathways to greater housing stability.

🚀 We’re recruiting – join us in developing SAFE Zone

We’re excited to launch SAFE Zone, a new project from The Zone designed to help prevent homelessness and rough sleeping for young people aged 16–25 in Plymouth.

Made possible through funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Ending Homelessness in Communities Fund (EHCF), the project will develop a dedicated Early Intervention Housing Support service and a new day centre for young people.

We’re now recruiting:

🔹 Early Intervention Housing Support Workers – 2 posts

These are exciting opportunities to join The Zone at the start of a significant new project and help establish a new approach to preventing homelessness and rough sleeping for young people in Plymouth.
