Last week, we had a temporary water outage for a few hours in our main Highbury building. Thankfully, we had some notice and were able to make alternative arrangements for our Community Support Service and Plymouth Supported Living to spend the day at Crownhill Family Centre.

A huge thank you to the team at Crownhill Family Centre for accommodating us at such short notice. We really appreciate your support!

Our service users and residents had a fantastic time, borrowing games from Orbit Club and taking part in activities. A small group also headed out to Chaplins for their community trip and returned with some new Halloween costumes, which they were excited to show everyone! 🎃👻

After enjoying lunch together, everyone got involved in some karaoke, with plenty of singing and dancing 😀🎶

🎉 Yesterday we marked a very special milestone – our first birthday!

A huge thank you to the Theatre Royal Plymouth for stepping up and providing an amazing venue! We were privileged to have a brilliant tour of TR2, including a sneak preview of their preparations for the opera Aida!

It was lovely to welcome Jo from Plymouth Highbury Trust, who told us more about their fantastic work and how they are looking forward to linking up with our Club. And a special thank you to Mike and Fleure for coming along and sharing the celebration with us.

We were also delighted to give a huge welcome to Cosmin, our newest member – what better way to start our second year! 🎉

As we celebrate our first year, a big thank you also has to go to Sam, Simon and Mihail for all their hard work in getting Plymouth International Rotary off the ground, and to Ricky for taking on the President’s role and leading us into our second year. 💙💛

What a first year it’s been – and there’s lots more to come! If you’d like to find out more about Plymouth International Rotary and perhaps be part of our second year, we’d love to hear from you.

🎧 Our first Own Your Volume silent disco! 🎧

12 people joined us for our first disco, a small group, but what an amazing evening!

We had crafts, a raffle, glitter and, of course, lots of music! ✨🎶

One of the things that really stood out to us was how much being able to choose your own volume made a difference. For some people, being able to turn the music up or down to what felt comfortable meant they could try something new and be part of the experience when they might not otherwise have been able to.

Seeing people doing their own thing, taking breaks, moving around, chatting or simply enjoying the music in their own way, while still being part of the atmosphere — honestly made my heart happy.
A massive thank you to everyone who helped make our first event possible:

It was this month 15 years ago that Plymouth Supported Living was created! With a vision of providing high-quality care across all aspects of life, alongside accommodation that residents can truly call home.

Fifteen years on, that commitment continues to make a positive difference to the lives of the residents here.

Congratulations to everyone at Plymouth Supported Living on this fantastic birthday, and here’s to many more years of providing amazing care and support.

Our Community Support Service offers a welcoming space where people can learn, have fun and connect with others. The service has a wonderful sensory room where anyone can go to unwind, watch a film and enjoy some quiet time, as well as a games room where people can play pool, darts and other games.

The service plays an important role in ensuring that people continue to have access to engaging activities, positive connections and opportunities for personal development throughout their lives.

✨️ Our Social Clubs boost confidence, improve mental health and wellbeing, and reduce social isolation.

Adults with a learning disability can enjoy
music, bingo, karaoke and a variety of games and activities, as well as unlimited cups of tea, coffee or squash and a chosen snack at our Orbit Club.

There is no pressure to take part in the planned activities with the option to do your own thing whether that is drawing, painting or just having a chat with friends and socialising.

➡️ Our Orbit Club takes place every Monday and Thursday, 10:30am - 2:30pm.

A huge thank you to GOSS Interactive, who have recently donated an incredible £2,236.53 to us!

It was great to welcome Katie and Shaun from the GOSS team yesterday and show them around, as well as share more about what we do and the people we support.

This generous donation will go towards helping adults with a learning disability engage in community activities and access new opportunities that build confidence, improve mental health and wellbeing, and ultimately help all our service users live happy, fulfilling lives.
