The only way to confirm if a suspect material contains asbestos fibres is to have a sample analysed by a specialist laboratory.

Workers and supervisors must be able to recognise asbestos-containing materials and know what to do if they come across them.

Working with asbestos without proper training is illegal and the person sampling should be fully trained and competent to do so.
