Abuse has no place in relationships, homes, or communities.

As the World Cup kicks off, we're joining organisations across the country in standing together against abuse.

Because ending domestic abuse means tackling it at its source - and that takes all of us.

With the World Cup around the corner, Light are bringing organisations together with their campaign - a united message that abuse has no place in relationships, homes, or communities. Ahimsa stands with them.

Our contribution to that message is the work we do every day - holding people who cause harm accountable and creating space for genuine change - because ending domestic abuse means tackling it at its source, not just responding to it after the fact.

Are you aged 18-30? Have you experienced relationship difficulties when you were younger - whether you've been harmed, caused harm, or both?

Ahimsa is building a Lived Experience Advisory Group to shape our Youth Service - the work we do with young people aged 16-25 on healthy relationships.

This isn't about sharing your story. You're coming to tell us what works, what doesn't, and when our ideas miss the mark - so the service makes sense to young people and reaches them at the right time.

What matters is that you've done the work on yourself, you're not in that space now, and you want other young people to get help navigating this earlier.

Meetings every 4-6 weeks.
Vouchers for your time.
Skills and recognition you can use elsewhere.

We want this group to reflect Plymouth's diversity - different genders, backgrounds, experiences, and pathways.

Domestic abuse will not end unless we tackle the problem at its source.

Behaviour change and prevention work is chronically underfunded - yet it is one of the most effective ways to protect victim-survivors and break the cycle of abuse.
Alongside that work, our integrated model ensures (ex)partners and families receive safety planning and trauma recovery support at the same time.

The brand new Ahimsa charity lottery is one way to help fund that work. £10 a month enters you into a monthly draw with the chance to win up to £25,000, while directly supporting our specialist domestic abuse services in Plymouth.

This is what behaviour change looks like in practice - someone taking responsibility for the harm they've caused and doing the sustained, difficult work of changing.

Ahimsa has been delivering that work with people since 1990.

New: Reflective Practice Sessions - Working with People Who Cause Harm

Disrupting domestic abuse requires everyone working across the system to feel equipped and confident - these sessions give you the space to build those skills.

Do you encounter domestic abuse perpetrators in your work? Whether you're in social care, housing, probation, substance use services, health, education, or other frontline roles - these sessions are for you.

Ahimsa is running monthly online reflective practice sessions (May-Oct 2026) where you can reflect on difficult situations, share learning with peers, and build confidence in working effectively with people who cause harm.

📅 First Thursday of each month, 10:00-11:30am
💻 Online
✅ No prior training or specialist experience required

Spaces are limited.
Funded by Plymouth City Council.

We are proud to be part of something that is already changing lives in Plymouth.

The Integrated Domestic Abuse Service Plymouth, IDASP, launched on 1 April, bringing together First Light, Ahimsa, Barnardo's and Bridges Outcomes Partnerships to create Plymouth's first truly joined-up response to domestic abuse.

Whether someone is in immediate danger, trying to understand what is happening to them, or rebuilding their life after abuse, there is now one place to turn with expert support at every step of the journey.

IDASP also works with people who cause harm, because tackling domestic abuse means addressing it at every level.

Free, confidential support is available now.

The Victims' Commissioner for England and Wales has launched the 2026 Victims' Survey - the only national, independent survey gathering insights directly from victims across all crime types.

Through our integrated services, we work directly with (ex)partners and parents/carers affected by domestic abuse. We know how important it is that victim-survivors' experiences shape national policy and practice — and this survey is one way to make that happen.

If you have experienced or reported a crime since January 2021, your voice matters. The survey is anonymous, takes around 15 minutes, and is open to anyone aged 16+.

It is open until 6 May 2026.
