Road Works and Access to the Park - Update June 2026

Planned closure of Roman Road for 16 weeks
The road is now open over from Denny/Dunipace to the crossroads on the Roman Road down past the park and onto the village. Although closed for a couple of days last week, the road from Torwood through to the crossroads is now open too. The one fly in the ointment is now from the A872 along the Roman Road to the crossroads this has now been closed for a week for putting in services and there is a sign up saying it will be closed for 16 weeks

Celebrating Volunteers’ Week 1st – 7th June 2026
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers. Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years
Our volunteers give so much to our organisation, without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do in Plean Country Park .Thank you to each and every one of you.

Really unusual and very cute

We wanted to share this gorgeous photo of a partially leucistic young red squirrel, taken by Anne Marie Dougan in the highlands, isn't it beautiful! Our team had never seen an individual with such striking markings before.

Thank you to Anne Marie for allowing us to post it.

💬 Residents, community groups and other key stakeholders are being asked for their feedback on another key part of Stirling’s Local Development Plan (LDP) as it continues to take shape.

This part of the consultation will gather people’s views on the plan’s spatial strategy and the site options that are currently being considered for inclusion.

The spatial strategy will dictate where and how growth, development and land-use change will happen in the Stirling Council area (except Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park), directing investment and housing to the most appropriate locations.

The site options shown in this round of the consultation come from two places:

👉 Sites submitted by landowners and developers during the Call for Sites, which ran from August to October 2025.

👉 Sites already identified for development in the current Stirling Local Development Plan that have not yet started and therefore need to be reassessed to decide whether they should be included in the next plan.

A number of drop-in events have been arranged to support this part of the consultation:

➡ Blairlogie – Wednesday 27 May (1-6pm) in Blairlogie Reading Room
➡ Gargunnock – Thursday 28 May (2-6.30pm) in Gargunnock Community Centre
➡ Plean, including Bannockburn and Cowie – Tuesday 2 June (11am-3pm) in Balfour Community Centre
➡ Bridge of Allan – Wednesday 3 June (1-6pm) in the Allan Centre
➡ Doune and Deanston – Thursday 4 June (1.45pm-5.45pm) in the Rural Hall
➡ Dunblane - Wednesday 10 June (1.30pm-6.30pm) in the Dunblane Centre
➡ Fallin (including Throsk) - Thursday 11 June (2pm-6pm) at Fallin Library
➡ Thornhill - Friday 12 June (3.30pm-7pm) at Thornhill Community Hall
➡ Stirling and localities - Tuesday 16 June (1.30pm-6.30pm) at Old Viewforth
➡ Buchlyvie – Wednesday 17 June (12.15-6.30pm) in Buchlyvie Village Hall
➡ Killearn (including Balfron) - Thursday 18 June (1pm-5pm) in Killearn Village Hall
➡ Balfron (including Killearn) - Thursday 18 June (6pm-8pm) in Balfron High School
