🔵 Weekly Staff Update 🔵

The team has had the opportunity to spend time together this week.

1️⃣ Coach Maddy readies the bus to head to Nottingham
2️⃣ Coaching on the Cowal Peninsula - Captured by Calum
3️⃣ Fairnilee Division 2 / 3 Slalom - Captured by Mark
4️⃣ Staff co-working in Grandtully - Captured by Mabel

On Monday, Calum headed out on the water to lead a Modular Sea Kayak Coach Assessment for the Toward Club, situated on the Cowal Peninsula.

Coach Maddy has traveled to the Nottingham Sprint Regatta with a group of athletes; stay tuned for further details coming early next week!

Mark attended the Fairnilee Division ⅔ Slalom event over the weekend, even finding himself in the judges chair at one point!

We asked him for a few words on the event and here’s what he had to say: “It was great to get out and see competition on Scottish water, engage further with the community, and even get roped into judging — witnessing first-hand the incredible work our volunteers do behind the scenes.

It was also a valuable opportunity to catch up with the Slalom Development Group, share some of the emerging vision and direction of travel, and hear their ideas and knowledge. Huge thanks to everyone for giving up part of their lunch hour to contribute to the conversation.”

To round off the week, the team gathered for co-working sessions in Grandtully and Ratho. During our time together, we explored the exciting projects and opportunities developing for the months ahead.

🔵 Weekly Staff Update 🔵

Our team has been working all over the country this week!

1️⃣ Portree - Captured by Adam
2️⃣ Breadalbane Canoe Club - Captured by Mark
3️⃣ Big Paddle Clean-up Kits - Captured by Charlotte
4️⃣ Action shot - Captured by Adam
5️⃣ Breadalbane pt. 2 - Captured by Mark
6️⃣ Kirkcaldy Canoe Club - Captured by Mark
7️⃣ Breadalbane pt. 3 - Captured by Mark

Adam spent the weekend travelling to Skye and Aberdeen, where he provided support to our providers and carried out quality assurance checks on qualifications.

Mark has continued to visit clubs, spending Saturday with Breadalbane Canoe Club and Tuesday evening with Kirkcaldy Canoe Club. Adam and Mark also met with the Pinkston Panthers at Pinkston Watersports on Monday to listen, learn, and gain insight into the paddler journey — from early development through to performance — within one of the key learning environments in the Scottish watersports landscape.

Mark said: “It was also great to spend time with the wider staff, volunteers, coaches, parents, and stakeholders who help make this environment what it is. The passion, commitment, and community connection around the centre are clear to see”.

These conversations and visits are important as Paddle Scotland continues to connect more closely with clubs, communities, and people across the country, taking time to understand local environments, listen to experiences, and work together on the opportunities ahead.

The operations team also met at Grandtully to send out the final Big Paddle Clean-Up kits.

We look forward to sharing more soon 💙
