Following Monday’s bank holiday, the team has enjoyed another week packed with fantastic opportunities!

4️⃣ Pinkston Panthers Session - Captured by Mark

We are delighted to welcome Mike Strang to the team as our new Chief Executive Officer! Please join us in wishing Mike a very warm welcome in the comments below.

The weekend saw Adam attending WWSUP Fest, while Mabel was at the Grandtully rapids to catch the Saturday racing action. Be sure to look out for a video of the event coming soon!

Mark also spent time at the Alva Slalom and Scottish Schools event, where he enjoyed meeting the community and presenting medals to the participants.

On Wednesday, Mark and Maddy visited Strathclyde Country Park to meet with our friends at Scottish Rowing. We explored future opportunities for our sprint discipline and were given a tour of their facilities. Many thanks to Lee and the rest of the team; it is fantastic to see different watersports collaborating so closely.

Mark also stopped by a Pinkston Panthers session to meet with stalwart Jock. It was great to see a coach working with the next generation of paddlers, it is all about that vital knowledge being passed down!

Next week, Coach Maddy is heading to Krakow to coach at the J/U23’s Slalom World Championships, and we’ll be sharing her journey to our socials throughout. Keep an eye out for a taste of what to expect over the weekend!

4️⃣ An exciting meeting

The Marketing, Communications, and Commercial Committee met on Monday evening. The discussion focused on our draft events strategy, strategic communication pillars, upcoming launch of the new organisational strategy and our refreshed brand guidelines.

Also on Monday evening, Calum wrapped up the final week of a Modular Sea Kayak Coach Assessment for the Toward Seasports Club. We are delighted to announce that two new candidates have qualified, strengthening the club’s coaching roster. Based in a remote area, the club shared that they sometimes feel isolated and truly value the connection and support from Paddle Scotland and the wider regional club network.

The team has also made important progress behind the scenes with the organisation of the 2026 European Junior and Under 23 Wild Water Racing Championships which will take place in August at Grandtully. We need lots of volunteer support for this event, so please get in touch if you are keen to help [email protected]

We are also thrilled to welcome a new fleet of white-water kayaks to the team, made possible through our partnership with Edinburgh Watersports and Pyranha Kayaks. These boats are ready for our Summer of Sport, providing essential gear for our young ambassadors, club-focused initiatives, and upcoming skills development workshops.

Adam and Louisa were in Glasgow on Monday for an exciting meeting; we look forward to sharing further details with you soon!

We look forward to sharing more with you next week, let us know what you would like to see from our staff team below ⬇️

📣 Update - Wheels to Water 📣

The Wheels to Water team has been keeping a close watch on the weather forecast for the coming weekend. Regrettably, the wind levels currently predicted mean it is no longer safe to go ahead with our on-water activities.

With so many volunteers and participants planning to travel, the organisers have taken the tough decision to postpone the session.

We are working hard to secure a new date later this year and will share any updates as soon as we can. Thank you for understanding. 💙
