PERTHSHIRE: OFF THE BEATEN TRACK
Caisteal Dubh, Moulin 🏰

Just around a kilometre north of Pitlochry, tucked away near the village of Moulin, are the remains of Caisteal Dubh - the Black Castle of Moulin.

It’s thought to have been built around 1326 by Sir John Campbell of Lochawe, originally standing on an island or crannog in a small loch that has long since been drained.

And its ending is even more intriguing.

The castle was reportedly burned in 1512 amid fears of plague, leaving behind the ruins you can still see today.

It’s one of those places you could pass for years without ever realising just how much history is sitting quietly in the Perthshire landscape.

If you like finding the places that don’t always make the guidebooks, add Caisteal Dubh to your list next time you’re exploring Pitlochry.

And after a bit of exploring? You know where to find us. 🍻

We'll make a loss on every one of these b**rs, but it's about so much more than that...

The second annual release of 'Way of Life' in 440ml cans is now live. Read on to learn about its purpose, the faces on the label and how to get your hands on a can.

Available from today and in the lead-up to Remembrance, 'Way of Life' is a tribute to the service & sacrifices made by our military and civilian servicemen and women. 100% of the sale price goes to charity, shared equally between the Poppy Appeal and the British Red Cross. These exclusive cans are available in limited numbers.

They're priced deliberately high as a way for our community to support these worthy causes, and enjoy a tasty b**r in recognition of their generosity. 100% of the sale price goes to charity: Wasted Degrees covers the cost of production, we will make a loss on every can sold… but it has always been about more than just the b**r for us.

To those of you reading this who currently serve or who have served in the past: Thank You, we value what you put on the line for us and we're proud to say so.

The cans are available immediately via our website for UK & IoM shopping. You can also buy them at the brewery shop and our Perth pub during opening hours.

On the label are just three of the many men & women without whom Wasted Degrees would not exist. We wouldn't be here, doing what we enjoy, had it not been for those who came before us, and others like them, doing their duty or playing their part. From right to left:Jen Low (Adams) from Blairadam & Perth, a British Red Cross Nurse during WW2, our Granny.Jack Low from Ladybank & Perth: a Lance Corporal in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, 51st Highland Division, British Army during WW2, our Grandad.Archie Anderson from Collin in Dumfries & Galloway: a Royal Air Force Leading Aircraftman on National Service in the late 1940's, our Papa.

We know many of you, especially in the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, will be thinking about the Archies, Jacks and Jens you knew or know. This is for them too, every last one of them.

Head to our website to buy now. Thank You
