Stage 6 Completed

Alfie and Team Scotland battled the Tropical Trade Winds to secure 8th place into Subic Bay in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race — while Team GOSH leads the overall standings! 🏆

And the big news…

Alfie has been offered a place on Team GOSH for Stage 7 – the Qingdao Cup, racing from Subic Bay to Sailing City, Qingdao! From mentee to alumni to racing with the table leaders — what a journey.

We’re incredibly proud to share that our former mentee — and now alumni — Alfie Butler is back competing in the legendary Clipper Round the World Yacht Race!
Alfie has joined the crew of Team Scotland for Leg 6, sailing from Airlie Beach, Australia, to Subic Bay, Philippines 🌊

He first took on this epic challenge during the 2023–24 race with the support of our bursary, inspiring countless young people with his grit, determination, and passion for adventure. Seeing him return as an alumnus is a powerful reminder of what opportunity, mentorship, and belief can unlock.

The Clipper Race brings together people from all backgrounds for a 40,000+ nautical mile global adventure, proving that extraordinary opportunities really are possible for everyone.

🎺✨ In just three weeks, we’re back at St George’s, Hanover Square, for a magical evening of carols, festive readings, and stunning performances!

Join us for music by the internationally renowned trumpet soloist, Matilda Lloyd, accompanied by the Solus Trumpet Ensemble—comprised of five of the UK's leading young professional trumpeters. Adding to the magic will be vocal performances by Elision, an exciting contemporary vocal ensemble featuring talented singers from across the UK.

🌟 £22,231 Raised by Ibi Akhtar's 777 Challenge for teamArchie 🌟

From September 15th to 21st, Ibi embarked on an extraordinary fundraising journey, completing the 777 Challenge by running 7 marathons in 7 days across 7 European cities. This remarkable feat was undertaken in aid of teamArchie, raising a total of £22,231 from 300 generous donors. 🏃‍♂️🏅

teamArchie was established in memory of a dear friend of Ibi’s who shared a passion for sports and the joy it brings to communities. The charity continues Archie's legacy by harnessing the transformative power of sports to enhance the lives of young people through various projects. 💖⚽🏀

The Alsama Project: This initiative sets up sports and education programs in Lebanon's Shatila, Bouri al-Baraineh, and Beqaa Valley refugee camps. Its aim is to empower refugee children through sport and education.

Football Beyond Borders (FBB): Based in the UK, FBB works with disengaged young people who are passionate about football. The organisation helps them remain in school, providing them with the skills and grades necessary for a successful transition into adulthood. ⚽

The funds raised by Ibi’s efforts will significantly impact both of these causes, furthering our mission to use sports as a vehicle for positive change. ✨

Ibi’s dedication and the support of 300 donors underscores the power of community and an enduring legacy. Together, they have shown that sports can indeed bring out the best in people and create lasting and positive impacts around the world. 🌍❤️
