It's Second Hand September!

Second Hand September is an annual campaign started by Oxfam, challenging people to buy only pre-loved clothing for 30 days or more to fight the harmful impacts of fast fashion.

We encourage you to explore the huge assortment of second hand, preloved and vintage goodies Petersfield has to offer πŸ’š

You can also celebrate the themes of reuse, repair and repurposing by using and supporting the wonderful Petersfield Repair Cafe on the last Saturday of every month at the Avenue Pavilion (next one 26th Sept), Petersfield Toy Swap (Sat 19th Sept), and PTC's last CARRR Boot Sale of the year (Sun 20th Sept).

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to more than 48 volunteers who mucked in and got their hands dirty too, removing invasive Himalayan balsam from our local waterways. The 'balsam pulling' sessions were incredibly efficient, effective, and certainly satisfying - perhaps even enjoyable!

Find out more about the experience in our blog post: petersfieldcan.org/news-blog/2026/08/a-big-thank-you-to-our-balsam-pullers

The next opportunity for nature recovery action will be the Petersfield River Clean (18th&19th Sept) - watch this space for more details to follow shortly: petersfieldcan.org/events

As of last Thursday, 27th August, plug-in solar is now available to buy and self-install for our homes.

Already widely used across Europe, kits consist of up to four solar panels, a microinverter and standard UK plug that simply plugs into your socket at home. The panels will generate free solar energy that can be used to help power your domestic circuit and reduce the energy you use from your energy supplier. They will have a wide appeal but are particularly suitable for those who don’t have access to a usable roof or funds for a larger solar installation.

Join us at Petersfield Eco Cafe each Tuesday from 11am-midday in the Perry Room at Winton House, if you can 🌎

Chat with other like-minded and friendly people about all things climate related, find out what PeCAN are doing, and meet representatives of other local climate action groups. A great place to find out what's going on locally, and share your ideas and concerns.

You can buy hot drinks and cake from the cafe in Winton House, or use our supplies for a small donation to PeCAN. Access is either through the main building and out the back door to the building behind, or through the side gate. We hope to see you there! πŸ’š

If you can't join us during the working day you might be interested in coming along to our monthly PeCAN at the Pub / Volunteers Evenings instead. These are on the last Wednesday of the month, from 7pm at The Folly - the next is a relaxed social on Wednesday 26th August.
