FitzRoy - Transforming Lives

FitzRoy - Transforming Lives FitzRoy transforms the lives of people with learning disabilities, helping them live more independently at home and in the community.

FitzRoy offers a wide range of services to support adults with learning disabilities. Our creative and flexible approach means we are able to work with people who need different levels of support - from a few hours a week to shop or access community activities - though to 24 hour support and nursing care.

When Tracey stopped enjoying the things she loved, her team knew something wasn't right.

They listened, kept asking questions and never stopped advocating for her.

Today, she's happier and back enjoying the things that matter most to her, including a new love of gardening 🌱

Steven loves wrestling, football, puzzles and colouring.

Last year, after 25 years in supported living and a long stay in hospital, he moved into his FitzRoy home in Essex.

At first, he mostly kept to himself. But with time, patience and support, things started to change. Today, he's making friends, getting out and about, reconnecting with his mum and trying new things.

πŸ’¬ "Can you cook?"

That was one of the questions Sharon, Karen and Elliot asked when they helped interview candidates for a new Deputy Manager at their home in Coventry.

The questions they asked reflected what was important to them, helping them get to know the candidates while giving candidates a real insight into the people they'd be supporting.

It's a simple idea that made a big difference.

After six years of wanting to going back to Alton Towers, Beth finally got back on the rollercoasters she loves 🎒

When Beth moved into her FitzRoy home, we asked one simple question: "What do you want to do?" and together, we made it happen.

Beth’s story highlights what Living My Life in action really is – supporting people to live the lives they choose. For Beth, that means rollercoasters, road trips, new experiences and exciting plans for the future. After years of dreaming about what might be possible, she is finally getting the chance to do it.

πŸ’™ Thank you!

We're so close to reaching our Β£20,000 target for our Homes not Hospitals Appeal, thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters and the support of the B&Q Foundation.

Your support is helping people leave long-term hospital settings and move into homes with the essential items they need to feel safe, comfortable and at home from day one 🏠

Thank you for helping make this possible. If you'd still like to help us reach our goal, you can donate here: https://fitzroy.org/help-someone-leave-hospital-and-finally-come-home/
