World Youth Skills Day, took place this week on 15th July.

United Nations had declared 15th July as World Youth Skills Day to highlight the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.

The theme for 2024 is - ‘Youth Skills for Peace and Development’.

By providing young people with employment skills here at The Employability Trust, we hope this contributes to their personal growth, and in turn a sustainable community.

In case you weren’t too sure what we do here at The Employability Trust, here’s some information for our new followers ⬇️

🟢 The Employability Trust is an established subcontract manufacturing and warehousing resource centre in Peterlee, County Durham.

🟢 We also provide real life work experience to those out of work, with the possibility of direct job opportunities both within our organisation and externally with local employers. This addresses the issue of cyclical unemployment and helps to create positive role models for future generations.

🪑Refurbishing indoor furniture ♻️

The Employability Trust have had a partnership with Nando's for several years now, refurbishing outdoor furniture. This partnership has now developed into refurbishing of the indoor furniture, at Nando’s Durham. This work was completed with a short turnaround!

It is fantastic to continue to develop our partnership with Nando’s, which provides ongoing employment and work experience here at The Employability Trust.

Would you like to join our team?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to manage / mentor our young team within an everchanging production, manufacturing and warehousing environment.

Health and safety experience and knowledge of furniture manufacturing / refurbishment would be advantageous. Most importantly we are looking for a passionate leader of people with strong communication skills who is caring and nurturing.

With a mechanical bias, you must be willing to pass on your skills and knowledge and teach our people the most efficient and safest means to complete a variety of tasks.

For further information contact Bill Marley on 07590777213 or at [email protected]

Here’s our team recently working at Nando's Corby, sprucing the outside area up!

Day one included weeding and jet washing. Bad weather stopped play, and so we went back for a second day to fill the gaps with sand.

Two members of our team worked on this job; and one was a work experience candidate who told us he loved it, said it was a great experience and wants to do more working away.

An excellent team effort! 💫

This weekend is the second bank holiday of May, the Spring bank holiday.

Since 1871 an Act of Parliament formally recognised official bank holidays in the U.K. Banks were able to close on these days, which is where the name comes from.

Let us know in the comments what a bank holiday means to you!
