Support for Young People doing Outdoor Sport
This last weekend we were delighted to be able to support Danny Hart's Descend Bike Park with their Summer Shredders event at Hamsterley Forrest.
Outdoor sport gives young people vital physical, mental, and social advantages. It builds strong bodies, reduces stress, and teaches teamwork. Natural settings and fresh air help youth grow healthy and happy.
* Physical Health
* Mental Wellbeing
* Social and Personal Growth
Time spent with parents/carers siblings, grandparents and friends cannot be underestimated.
Placing children in a friendly, supportive but competitive environment should also be seen as a positive.
Let’s not forget that 2 x DH World Champion and multiple World Cup winner Danny Hart cut his teeth at this venue; this alone provides inspiration for the next gen!
Support can be delivered in a variety of ways; on this occasion we are able to help with:
* A financial contribution so that a number of riders would be able to attend the bike park again with a greatly reduced cost to their parents
* A marshal – races cannot go ahead without marshals on the course
* A medic – as above
* 20 radios to ensure communications
* An events compare
* Assistance with event planning
We were joined by some other local and national people:
* Inspiral Cycles – they gave up product for podium winners and their time to help present trophies’
* Smiling Chainlink – they attended on the day and donated prizes for podium places and for the those that did not make the podium. They also provided mechanical support for riders with issues on the day.
* The Local MP, Sam Rushworth, MP for Bishop Auckland came up to see what it was all about and hand out the podium prizes.
* Hope Technology Ltd – podium prizes
* JWDT.photography – provided a free photo album
* Burnell Timber, DIY & Building Supplies provided some amazing trophies for the podium finishers.
Huge thanks to all those that helped make this a great day at a locally iconic venue!
