In Loving Memory of Phyll Ryan ❤️

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend Phyll Ryan has passed away.

Phyll had been part of our Chinese Community in Peterborough Tai Chi family for the past five years. Looking back through these photographs brings back so many wonderful memories of her — practising Tai Chi with us, joining our celebrations, volunteering at events, laughing, sharing food and simply enjoying being together.

Phyll adored Tai Chi. She rarely just came along to take part — she became part of the family. She was always warm and welcoming to new people and helped others feel comfortable and included. She embraced the Chinese culture and community with genuine enthusiasm and friendship.

She was also a wonderful volunteer and supporter of our community activities, including our Chinese New Year celebrations. Whether she was helping behind the scenes, joining in the festivities or enjoying one of our many social gatherings, Phyll brought her warmth, humour and kindness with her.

And anyone who shared a meal with Phyll will know how much she enjoyed our food! ❤️ I will always remember that her favourite dish was the spicy cabbage. It became one of those little things we would laugh and talk about, and it is now a very precious memory.

Today, at our Tai Chi session, we came together and observed a one-minute silence in Phyll’s memory. It was a quiet and moving moment for all of us — standing together as the Tai Chi family she had been part of for so many years, remembering our friend and honouring the place she held within our community.

Over five years, we shared much more than Tai Chi. We shared friendship, celebrations, food, laughter and many happy moments.

These photographs tell part of that story. They show Phyll doing something she loved, surrounded by people who were very fond of her.

Phyll, you will be deeply missed by all of us. There will always be a space in our Tai Chi family where you once stood.

Thank you for the friendship, the smiles, the volunteering, the encouragement you gave to others and all the memories you leave with us.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Phyll’s family and loved ones at this very sad time.

Rest in peace, dear Phyll. ❤️
You will always be remembered with great affection by the Chinese Community in Peterborough and our Tai Chi family.
