We are open to admissions tomorrow ❤️ apologies for not responding today, we both have had a long and tiring week at work so took some time out together this afternoon/evening.
Tomorrow I'll be microchipping hedgehogs ready for release so those with hedgehogs here keep a check on your messages 😁

A beautiful little foxy I met on my way to work this week. We love all animals ❤️🦊

Just a reminder that we're closed! Although we have been getting hedgehogs back to the wild, my health isn't great and I really need it sorting before adding more to my plate, and I'm also working 3 nights in a row from tomorrow. We'll reopen to new admissions on Friday ❤️
Please go to www.helpwildlife.co.uk for a list of other rescues, and any injured hedgehogs take to your closest open vets.

The 4 little minxes yesterday, one took a liking to my finger.
What they're doing is called anointing, they discover a new taste or smell, create foam/spit and spread it across their backs. There's no definite reason they do this, but it's very funny to watch.

Scraps has also left and gone home ❤️ he came in after having to be separated from another male who picked a fight with him. He had wounds to his sides but he also had hardly any quills because of a bad case of ringworm. Now he's fully clothed and beautiful, ready to find some lucky ladies 😍

Beautiful Ziggy left to go home this afternoon after a long stay healing her strimmer wound. You may remember she came in having been strimmed from her head down her side to her back. She left all healed and doubled in weight 😍

A few sad things have happened over the past week or so, we lost Cookie, Lidl Hog and Penelope.
Constance had a still hoglet, I only found 1, I don't know if she had more and ate them which can happen, and yesterday Martie gave birth to 2 premature hoglets but didn't feed them and left them scattered so I intervened this morning after work. 1 was 10g and another 13g. I don't believe they had that all important first feed and whilst I gave them a replacement and formula for 1 feed they passed before getting the second feed :( it's pretty much impossible to hand rear new borns and mums are always the best option where possible. She'll be monitored over the next few days and then can be released all being well to hopefully have a successful second litter this year.

Can Ziggy's finders send us a message if you see this please, she is ready to come home this weekend ☺️

I know it's not what people want to hear but I'm afraid we are remaining closed for the time being. I'm working tonight and tomorrow I have to battle the doctors and hospital to get an ultrasound due to my Crohn's disease which means I cannot take on more sick hedgehogs or any needing hand rearing.
Please don't continually message our page as it won't be monitored, guidance for hedgehogs in need as below.
For any INJURED hedgehogs please take to your closest open vets.
For all other issues with hedgehogs please check out www.helpwildlife.co.uk and contact your next closest rescues for support.
In this heat please put out plenty of bowls of water, ensure any nest boxes are fully shaded, make sure your bird baths are topped up and you can even dampen any grassy/dirt areas to encourage bug life and make it easier for hedgehogs and birds to get their natural food sources.

Please put water out for wildlife over this heatwave!!
We aren't able to release any hedgehogs until the heatwave is over next weekend.
We will be closed this weekend as I'm really not very well and the bit of energy I have needs to go into round the clock feeding of the hoglets and supporting the other hedgehogs we have here.
If you have a hedgehog in need of rescue support please go to www.helpwildlife.co.uk
If you have an injured hedgehog please take to your closest open vet.
The 4 little ones are doing really well, and one of our females has given birth in the last 24 hours, please wish her good luck in raising her little ones 🙏❤️
