North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) has launched its very first stage of a brand-new Local Plan, and they want to hear from us.
Itโ€™s called a 'Local Plan Scoping Consultation'

In essence, NNC is writing a new rulebook that will guide all decisions on housing, jobs, schools, roads, green spaces, and climate change for the next 20 years.

This is not something theyโ€™ve made up recently. Local plans have been part of the planning process for decades, but this one is completely replacing all of the previous incarnations. So they are starting from scratch.

Right now, they are at the "scoping" stage. This means no decisions have been made yet. They are asking the community:

If you want a say in where new houses are built, how our local infrastructure (like roads and GPs) will cope, or how our village's rural identity and green spaces are protected, this is where it starts. Itโ€™s much easier to shape the plan now than to fight individual planning applications down the line!

If we donโ€™t tell NNC what matters to our village right now, they will write the rulebook without us. It is much easier to shape the policies today than to fight individual planning applications a few years down the line.

๐——๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ: The consultation closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday 1st July 2026.

This is open to absolutely everyone and anyone, not just councils or developers or landowners.

You can read the scoping summary and submit your views online here: https://consult.northnorthants.gov.uk/kpse/event/91887E41-526D-46B0-A745-713ADD6B4DD2

On the left hand side of the page, you will see a number of downloadable documents. The hierarchy and boundaries documents are important.

For instance, in the hierarchies paper, what have they missed off thatโ€™s important for residents of Nassington? Whatโ€™s included that doesnโ€™t belong?
Is development necessary to keep our village the vibrant place to live that we all know and love? Do we need smaller homes for people to downsize to? More affordable family homes? What about work spaces?

Settlement boundaries (where open countryside starts) โ€“ are these important to you?

Paper copies are also available to view at the main council offices (Corby, Kettering, Rushden, Thrapston, and Wellingborough).
Don't let others decide what our area looks like in 20 years without them knowing what you think โ€”have your say!
(Note: There is also a 'Call for Sites' happening right now, where landowners can suggest areas for future building โ€“ there is an interactive map on the above link portal which will be updated as more sites come forward).

Crib Service news....

As we all know, the Crib Service on Christmas Eve marks the absolute start of Christmas and is one of the most special events in Nassington each year.

All children in the village are invited to take part. There is a rehearsal in the church at 4pm on the day before, Tuesday 24th, to practice the songs.

This is the general rule of thumb in Nassington too..........Only visit houses that are decorated and obviously taking part.

Do you know unwritten 'trick or treat' rule that parents have been following for years in Lincolnshire? It's pretty simple: only call at homes with Halloween decorations.

By respecting that if someone hasnโ€™t decorated their home, they arenโ€™t taking part, it means people who donโ€™t want to receive callers can enjoy a peaceful evening, and it means that trick or treaters can be reasonably sure that they are welcome at a decorated house and therefore more likely to receive a treat.

Please be safe. Consider having a little ghoul school with your children before you set off about following your rules, road safety and being respectful.

Above all, enjoy your Halloween (or your Halloween free evening!)
