What a first quarter we have had at The George Alcock Centre!

From graduation parties, a mendhi, countless birthday parties, a baptism, christening, a wake, holi party and multiple conferences too, all alongside our regular weekly bookings.

As a large, fully accessible venue, we can offer hire for a variety of purposes, including bookings with bar and catering packages. We can even help with chair covers and bows for that extra special touch.

Today we were delighted to host the Christmas dinner for the The Memory Club & Café, our warm and welcoming dementia support group that meets at the centre each week.

The Memory Club & Café provides a safe, friendly space for people living with memory loss or neurodegenerative conditions, as well as carers, family members and friends. Through peer support, activities, music, conversation and shared experiences, the group helps reduce isolation and builds a strong sense of community.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team for their hard work and dedication in supporting the group and helping make today such a special occasion.

We are so proud to provide a space where people can connect, feel supported and enjoy time together. Events like today’s Christmas dinner are a wonderful reminder of how important these groups are, especially at this time of year.

If you’d like to find out more about the Memory Club & Café or other community groups based at the George Alcock Centre, please get in touch.

With the weather getting colder, it's the season for indoor birthday parties!

Our end of year availability is limited, so please check before booking, but we do have a couple of midweek evenings available. From bouncy castles and soft play, to discos or magicians, our hall can hold it all! We even have on-site catering options.

We recommend Mike at Kiddicastles for bouncy castle and disco hire- here's the set up from yesterday's Christening.

We are aware that fireworks were set off in the local area over the weekend. We would like to clarify that these were not connected in any way to the George Alcock Centre, and fireworks are not permitted on our premises.

Unfortunately, two members of our staff received verbal abuse from individuals who believed the fireworks were being set off by the centre. We kindly ask the community to remember that our team should never be subjected to hostility or aggression.

The fireworks were part of Diwali celebrations taking place across the city, a festival which is widely celebrated at this time of year.

As always, we are committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Thank you for your understanding.

Our phenomenal team member, Lesley Pamphilon Fox is taking on the Great Eastern Run. She's raising money for, Living Keys. Please support her!!

Every year, over 2.3 million adults in the UK experience domestic abuse. Over the last 3 years, Living Keys have supported women and children through free courses, workshops, and a safe weekly drop-in, helping survivors rebuild hope and community after abuse, and the need for this service is growing.
