This Volunteers’ Week PCVS would like to take a moment to acknowledge all those who take part in health and care research, from those who volunteer for studies and PPIE groups to those who champion research in their own communities.

To help showcase the kind of work that Peterborough’s Community Research Champions do to help promote research in the community, our colleagues at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (funded by NHS England) have produced this short film in collaboration with Sara More, one of the Community Research Champions we work with, and James Farson, Health Research Coordinator at PCVS.

Once you’ve watched the film and been inspired, make sure to email [email protected] or call 01733 342683 to find out how take part!

What a great day at St John's Church yesterday. It was amazing to see so many organisations celebrating all of the good work their volunteers do.

A big thank you to the many volunteers that make such a difference to organisations in supporting local communities.

A special thank you to our long serving volunteer, Jackie, seen in action on the day.

As part of Volunteers' Week, we held a coffee morning at the PCVS office on Tuesday 2 June. The event aimed to bring together local organisations and provide a space to discuss volunteering, share challenges and opportunities, explore recruitment approaches, and showcase the Go ViP platform.

The session was a great opportunity to bring together a range of organisations to share insights, knowledge, and experiences, while building valuable networks that they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to develop. Everyone who attended was able to take something away from the discussion and strengthen connections both with our organisation and with one another.

There were some excellent examples shared, including successful events, effective recruitment processes, and positive volunteer stories demonstrating the impact that volunteers can have within organisations.

The event was very well received, and a follow-up session will be organised in due course to continue the conversations and networking opportunities.
