In Joshua 2, two Israelite spies hide in the home of Rahab, a woman living in the wall of Jericho. She protects them at great risk, then asks them to swear they will protect her family. Their answer comes with fine print. Everyone in the story is looking out for themselves, and God saves Rahab’s family anyway.
Pastor Adam’s recent sermon asks what that means for a church that wants to welcome everyone. Unreasonable hospitality does not wait until everybody’s heart is clean, because that would be a very empty church.
