We are delighted to see library services recognised for the benefits they bring to individuals and communities across our region, and welcome the announcement today of continued support from Elected Members and Council Officers at Perth and Kinross Council. The paper agreed by Council today secures the future of current provision and offers a route forward for the further development of libraries as true community hubs for a range of services and activities.

The support we have received from library users, campaigners and communities has been vital to this successful outcome, and we look forward to continuing to work together to serve local needs and interests.

For Culture Perth and Kinross staff, today’s welcome news provides reassurance after several years of uncertainty, and we thank them for all their hard work and excellent service, even during difficult times.

We will continue to work with the Council on the implementation of the recommendations of the report and in the meantime express our gratitude for local Elected Members' support for libraries.

Creatives from across Perth and Kinross will gather this June for a landmark summit to shape the future of culture in the region.

Culture Perth and Kinross, Perth and Kinross Council, Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, and Perth City of Craft will jointly host the first-ever Perth & Kinross Cultural Summit on Thursday 25 June, bringing together voices from across the region’s vibrant cultural sector.

Join us at Perth Museum to explore weaving in a relaxed, creative setting, where a traditional craft is reimagined with a contemporary twist.

Working with small weaving frames, you’ll design and make your own woven piece to take home. The session introduces the fundamentals of weaving using scrap textiles and yarn, with an emphasis on colour, texture and form, and on making creative use of materials that are often overlooked.

The workshop is led by multi‑disciplinary artist Rhona Jack, whose practice spans sculpture and textile art and is rooted in the use of second‑hand and reclaimed materials.

Culture Perth and Kinross are looking for a Casual Library Assistant to support a pilot scheme at Alyth Library over July – October 2026. These are exciting opportunities for individuals who are passionate about people, customer service and supporting visitors to make the most of their time in the area.

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic individual who will bring their great personality to the library environment to deliver excellent service. The hours of work would vary but could include cover for annual leave, sickness and training, particularly on Saturday and Sundays.

In this talk, retired soldier Andy Middlemiss will look at the events and ideas that led to American independence and the signing of the Declaration.

✅ Part-time Venues Cleaning Assistant

Culture Perth & Kinross are looking for a reliable Cleaning Assistant to work at Perth Art Gallery and occasionally other Culture Perth & Kinross venues in Perth City.

Duties include cleaning toilets, floors, desks and staff areas, using a buffing machine, emptying bins, and managing waste and recycling.

Previous cleaning experience in an office, public or commercial setting is required.

⏰ 10 hours p/w
🗓️ Permanent post
🏧 £25,640 per annum pro rata (£13.66 per hour)
