We've had a disappointing decision for Taymount Wood in that Perth & Kinross Council have approved the proposed intensive poultry unit at Newbigging Farm. This despite strong local objection, including from WSWG and many of our members. It’s not the outcome we hoped for. But our work continues. One of the most exciting developments is that we are in discussion with Forestry and Land Scotland about a possible Management Agreement. What might that mean? A New Path for WSWG? While our long-term vision of bringing Taymount and Five Mile Wood into community ownership remains, we are now exploring a new pathway. Following discussions with Forestry and Land Scotland, a potential Management Agreement could allow community involvement in caring for our woods. There are so many opportunities with this route forward. Learn more here - https://mailchi.mp/weststormontwoodlandgroup/biodiversity-your-village-community-bioblitz-18242974

As the year draws to a close, we’ve been looking back at some of the small, beautiful, and significant moments that have shaped our time in and around Taymount and Five Mile Woods. From discovering moths and wildflowers, to new walking routes, refreshed noticeboards, and even a film. It’s been a year rooted in curiosity, care, and community. We’ve gathered these moments, along with photographs, into a short end-of-year blog.
