We're delighted to announce that The Journey is also a Place - a beautiful poetry trail commissioned by The Bield at Blackruthven and written and narrated by Kenneth Steven is now availible on our website https://www.bieldatblackruthven.org.uk/poetry-trail

As you explore the Old Gravel Pits site opposite the end of our drive, you’ll discover a series of temporary numbered posts guiding you along the pathway, where Kenneth’s poems invite moments of reflection, wonder, and connection with the landscape.

Whether you're a guest of The Bield or simply visiting the area, you'll be welcome to experience this unique trail.

We'll share the official opening date very soon once more permenent posts are in place.

Need to get away?

Our Shepherd’s Hut is available for individual retreats. An intimate one-person place apart for all seasons. Enjoy the quiet splendour of the views over fields and woodland in the beautiful setting of the Bield at Blackruthven Estate.

Whether you wish to be away from it all to focus on a writing- or different project, relax or pray, the Shepherd’s Hut may be just the place for you.

Primarily self-catering, however you can book for meals in the Steading in advance. The minimum stay is 3 nights.

When the Bield is open to guests, you are welcome to explore the gardens and use the swimming pool where you will also find showers. The Chapel services at 9am and 5 pm are open to all.

Join us at the Bield for a deeper exploration of the Enneagram, building on your existing understanding to support ongoing personal growth, self-knowledge, and compassion.

Together we will explore how the Enneagram can support us in becoming more self-aware, more compassionate, and more balanced in both personal and professional settings.

The day includes a mix of individual reflection and group work, offering space to explore and deepen understanding of the Enneagram’s complexity in a supportive setting.
