Free climbing sessions are coming to UHI Perth this summer! 🧗‍♀️

As part of Scotland’s Summer of Sport programme, the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing is offering FREE sessions from the 6th of July to the 14th of August for the whole community — not just students.

There’s something for everyone, including Learn to Climb, Pop In & Play, Roped Climbing and Bouldering sessions for a range of ages.

A great chance for families, children and young people to get active, try something new and have fun this summer!

Wednesday 24th June 2 - 3pm - Climbing Wall Experience - UHI Perth, Academy of Sport & Wellbeing

We are hosting a climbing wall experience with UHI Perth in the Academy of Sport & Wellbeing building on Wednesday 24th June from 2-3pm. Try out climbing with expert guidance and build up skills related to safely managing ropes, improving techniques and confidence building. Please wear sport appropriate clothing with clean trainers.

Young Carers Insights Day – Edinburgh

Are you a young adult balancing work, study or your future alongside caring responsibilities? We’d love to hear from you.
Standard Life is hosting a Young Carers Insights Day at Standard Life House in Edinburgh, created specifically for carers aged 18–25. This day is designed to give you practical tools for your future, alongside a space to share your experiences and shape how employers can better support young carers.
What to expect on the day:
A warm welcome and relaxed icebreakers to get to know others
Insight into Standard Life and different career opportunities
A session on ‘squiggly careers’— exploring flexible and non-linear career paths
An interactive workshop to share your experiences and influence future support
Practical sessions on building your personal brand and using LinkedIn
Opportunities to connect with other young carers in a supportive environment
The day will combine career development with open conversations about how caring responsibilities impact employment, confidence and long-term financial wellbeing and what needs to change.

SAAS Application Workshop Sessions

SAAS will be hosting online sessions via MS Teams which will provide guidance on all aspects of SAAS funding schemes & offer advice on how to make a successful application to obtain funding. These sessions can be attended by students, parents and carers, partners and spouses. They will run from 2 June to 30 June. These interactive workshops will:

- explain the funding available from SAAS for those planning to undertake higher education courses (HNC/HND/Degree courses); and
- provide information on the repayment of student loans; and
- have direct access to a funding awareness advisor who can assist you with the formal submission of your SAAS Application.

The day would approximately begin at 10am and finish at 4pm. Make sure to bring a towel, shoes you don't mind getting wet, change of old clothes, lunch, snacks and drinks and weather appropriate clothing.
