Fantastic evening on Thursday as the St Agnes Croquet Club entertained us, well perhaps we entertained them !!! A hardy few braved the mizzle to brush up on skills and a lovely evening was had be all. Thanks to David, Andrew and team at the club for hosting us, I think it was another successful outing, although one of our party perhaps confused it with Golf, you know who you are ........ Alanna 🤣🤣🤣

Last night ten of us joined with many other teams to compete in the Rotary Pub Olympics held at Country Skittles. Over £1300 raised for Shelterbox with many laughs and tears ( when it all went belly up 🤣🤣 ), we didn’t embarrass ourselves too much but perhaps a series of training sessions before next years event might see us rise in the rankings 🤣🤣

Thursday evening saw our Club Assembly and a visit from District 1175 Governor Sam Cross. The lure of ice cream was clearly too much to bear 🤣🤣🤣 Great meeting although slightly thin on the ground but plans made for next Rotary year 2026/2027.

Our special thanks to Amelia for looking after us so well whilst Grandpa and Grandma went out to a party.

Great night last night as we welcomed Grace, and her mum Sam, to club to tell us all about her forthcoming internship in the Philippines. Since the age of 15 she has been 'nagging' her parents to allow her to follow her dream of a career in Paediatrics. To get ahead of the competition for university places she felt an internship working alongside Health Professionals was the way to go. Apart from experiences at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske, she has taken three jobs, run quizzes and other fundraising activities to raise the £3000 to get her to the Philippines to get real world clinical time with Healthcare Professionals in a very different system to ours. She showed real maturity in the delivery of her talk and welcomed many questions for our members on her aspirations for the future.

Our members were so impressed, we sent her away with a donation of £ 250.00 which we feel is a worthwhile investment in our future healthcare workers, Grace in particular. We look forward to welcoming her back post secondment to tell us all about the experience.

Last meeting we were pleased to welcome Redruth Rotarians to our meeting. President Stella along with Brian and Becky made the short trip to Callestick to enjoy a fab meal along with Callestick’s famous Ice Cream. Our Past President Seb treated us to a short talk on how Callestick has grown into the business it is today supplying customers such as M&S from humble beginnings when Angela made Ice Cream by hand. A very passionate talk that was well received.

The Miners Arms

Brilliant night at The Miners Arms in Mithian who hosted the Quiz night for our Rotary Club Charities. Excellent meal first then over to the amazing Gary who quized us up to £436 raised for charity. What a star but none of this could have happened if it wasnt for ‘our’ Jane who arranged the night and to Anouska, Gary and the locals for making a fab night spectaculary successful.
