Annual St Piran’s Pilgrimage at Perranporth
St Piran himself will be leading the procession along the dunes, supported by his first disciples – a badger, a fox and a boar. Merv Davey will play the Cornish pipes, so that pilgrims can safely find their way. Come and see the relics of St Piran, his silver bowl and chalice, his bell and even the skull of St Piran! Be prepared to be doused with holy water.
The pilgrimage will be start with a blessing by Rev David Clues. St Piran and his disciples will address and interact with the pilgrims at his Oratory. At the old church, pilgrims will hear from the Grand Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh, Jenefer Lowe, and Chaplin to the Gorsedh, Rev Canon Jane Kneebone. The pilgrimage will end with a rendition of Bro Goth Agan Tasow and laying of daffodils at St Piran’s cross.
Starting at 2pm at Piran Point at the Perran Sands Holiday Park, the pilgrimage will head across the sand dunes to St Piran’s Oratory, the Old Church and St Pirans Cross – all Scheduled Ancient Monuments - and will take place on Sunday 8th March.
Come rain or shine, this fantastic Cornish experience and homage will take place. Come and join us!
