In response to the BBC article, a spokesperson for the Save the Mousehole Bus Stop Campaign said:
“This isn’t about popularity or whether people like or dislike anyone - it’s about the difficult reality many now face. Richard Stevens will always be very welcome in Mousehole, and the community wants to keep the dialogue open with him to find a solution that makes the village accessible to everyone.
“Since the harbour bus stop was cut, elderly residents and those with limited mobility have been forced to tackle steep hills and narrow roads without pavements just to reach the new stop - even for something as simple as getting to Newlyn for bread and milk. The journey of children to the village primary school is more dangerous. The removal of the only dependable public transport link has left many feeling isolated and unsafe, despite clear evidence of year‑round need from locals and visitors alike.
“We’re calling for the reinstatement of this essential bus stop so the whole community can stay connected rather than cut off. We want to work together with Richard Stevens on a solution”.
A bus company boss says moving the bus stop out of the middle of Mousehole village is the "only option".
