Such a joy and privilege to share about NightChurch at the HeartEdge National Conference in Birmingham. It was wonderful to connect with so many people passionate about this work. Encouraging, too, to hear how NightChurch might be a model and resource for others seeking to create welcoming, inclusive spaces in their own communities.

As part of Thy Kingdom Come : God with Us, we are praying not only as individuals but as a community. Nightchurch has a number of prayer stations as we explore different kinds of prayer. Each has a simple way to help us turn our thoughts to God. “Many people think prayer means saying formal words, but that is only part of the picture. Prayer can be quite simply talking with God, just as you would a good friend. Lord thank you for our NightChurch family and for our time together this evening. Help us to discover that you are always with us and to ask for your help and guidance when we feel alone.” Evening reflection by Lesley.

This evenings reflection is titled ‘being known’ and follows some of the threads we have begun over the past couple of weeks. In the workshop, we will continue to make our mini artworks into a collaborative whole and the NC chef is cooking stir fry. We can’t wait to welcome you and do NightChurch together 🙏

This Wednesday join us for NightChurch 6-9pm.
Evening Programme:

Dinner at 6:30 – chilli con carne, rice with salad (both meat and vegan options available). Fruit and berries to follow.

Evening reflection at 7:30 – “New Beginnings”

8:00–8:45 – Workshop: creating small mixed-media squares to thread together into a collaborative wall of art.
“Individual stories + new beginnings = a shared extraordinary whole”

8:00–8:30 – Wellness check drop-in - community nurse

8:55 – Closing prayers

Nightchurch reopens this evening 6pm to 9pm with a new evening programme:
6-6.30pm welcome and connection
6.30-7.30pm dinner
7.30pm evening reflection ‘peace’
8-9pm community workshop ‘doves’

This is the heartbeat of NightChurch, a community of hope, creating space for people to connect and encounter God’s kindness in ways that feel safe and meaningful to them.
We recognise that people come as they are, and we seek to offer welcome, hospitality, and opportunities for connection, gently nurturing belonging, hope, and the possibilities of life in all its fullness.

We would like to share an update with our NightChurch community: NC will be paused until the end of April. This time allows for Easter leave for our staff and volunteers, followed by an additional period to invest in further development and training. NC is a safe, welcoming and well supported space inspired by the love of Jesus, and His promise of life in all its fullness. We want to make sure we are serving in the best way possible for everyone. We understand this may be disappointing, but please know this decision has been made with care and wellbeing at heart. NC will reopen ready and refreshed on Wednesday 29th April, and we look forward to welcoming you. The NightChurch exhibition THIS IS ME is now on at St Mary’s Church. The exhibition gives voice to the stories, creativity and connections that grow through the community. Uplifting words, courage, joy and the beauty of sharing space together.
We are always glad to welcome new people. If you enjoy holding welcoming and reflective spaces and would like to be part of a supportive and creative community, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer with NightChurch
NightChurch is a welcoming place for everyone, with Jesus’ promise of life in all its fullness at its heart, seeking the common good of the whole community. A place of hope and discovery where people can come as they are. Simply ‘being with’ through the practices of welcome and hospitality, table fellowship, joy and creativity.
Why volunteer? Be part of a compassionate community, support people who may be experiencing difficulty, and be a chain reaction of grace.
We are looking for people who are good listeners and can hold space for others, comfortable engaging with people from all backgrounds, and able to support through prayer, reflection and creativity.
