Over the last few weeks, volunteers across Cornwall have continued to show up, rain or shine, helping to keep our beaches, streets, parks and communities clean.

So far this year, an incredible 313 litter picks have been registered through the Clean Cornwall network, with 4,128 volunteers giving their time to make a difference.

Of the 48% of litter picks that have reported their results, volunteers have already collected an amazing 1,739 bags of litter from across Cornwall! 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who has organised, supported and taken part in a litter pick. Thanks especially to One Bag Beach Clean, St Austell Tidy Up Team and Bodmin Tidy it Team for sharing their photographs with us.

Volunteers’ Week and our recent Big Lunch beach clean have had us reflecting on just how much litter our volunteers are picking up across Cornwall, every single day.

From beaches and beauty spots to town centres, country lanes and car parks, thousands of bags of litter are being removed each year by people simply giving up their time because they care about where they live.

But we can’t litter pick our way out of this problem alone.

Real long-term change also needs stronger action, better systems and national policy changes that tackle litter at the source.

That’s why we’ve created an open letter on our website that anyone can use to contact their local MP about some of the biggest environmental issues affecting Cornwall and beyond.

It's already written and ready to send, making it quick and easy to have your voice heard on issues including litter, waste, pollution and environmental responsibility.

If you’d like to support a cleaner Cornwall beyond litter picking, this is one simple but powerful way to do it.

Read and share the open letter here: https://www.cleancornwall.org/open-letters

Behind so much of the work happening across Cornwall are businesses and people choosing to support positive environmental action 🌿

Our Change Makers help us continue providing free equipment, supporting volunteers and running campaigns and community projects that make a real difference across Cornwall. Their backing genuinely helps keep community action moving.

Today we'd like to shine a spotlight on one of them Bosinver Farm Holiday Cottages Cornwall 💚

Bosinver is a beautiful family-run farm stay near St Austell, offering holidays that help families slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the outdoors together. Sustainability sits at the heart of everything they do, from caring for the land and wildlife around them to encouraging guests to enjoy Cornwall responsibly and thoughtfully.

Bosinver is run by Pat Smith and her family. Many people will also know Pat as , a passionate climate campaigner, litter picker and advocate for environmental action here in Cornwall. Through both Bosinver and her work as Action Nan, Pat leads by example, showing how small everyday actions and bigger community conversations can all play a part in protecting the places we love 🌍

Their support as a Clean Cornwall Change Maker helps us continue supporting volunteers, community groups and local environmental action across Cornwall.

A huge thank you to Pat and the whole Bosinver team for their ongoing support, their care for Cornwall and their commitment to creating a cleaner, greener future for everyone.

If your organisation would like to join our growing network of Change Makers and help support environmental action across Cornwall, we'd love to hear from you! 💚

Behind every litter pick, community campaign and environmental project we support is a network of organisations helping us make a difference.

Today we're shining a spotlight on Our Only World. 🐬

As well as supporting environmental education and community action, Our Only World is leading the way in reducing single-use plastic through its network of public water refill stations.

These refill stations provide free access to drinking water, making it easier for residents and visitors to refill reusable bottles and reduce the need for single-use plastic bottles. It's a simple idea that can have a huge impact, helping to cut waste, reduce litter and encourage more sustainable habits.

We know that plastic bottles are one of the most common items found during litter picks across Cornwall, so initiatives like this play an important role in tackling waste before it becomes litter.

If your town, organisation, school, community group or business would be interested in installing a refill station in your area, we'd encourage you to get in touch with the team at Our Only World to find out more about how the scheme works and the support available.

As a Clean Cornwall Change Maker, their support helps us continue providing free equipment, supporting volunteers and delivering campaigns that encourage people to care for Cornwall's environment. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone at Our Only World for their support and for helping communities take practical action to reduce waste and protect our shared environment.

To find out more about their refill station programme, visit Our Only World or contact their team directly: https://www.ouronlyworld.org.uk/water-stations/

As continues, we'd like to take a moment to celebrate what our amazing volunteers achieved during May. 💚

Together, communities across Cornwall completed:

🌿 44 litter picks
🙌 630 volunteers took part
🗑️ 221 bags of litter were collected

These figures only reflect the litter picks that recorded and submitted data, so the true impact is likely to be even greater.

To everyone who organised, supported or took part in a litter pick during May, thank you. Happy Volunteers' Week, and thank you for everything you do. 💚
