Tuesday afternoon/evening and overnight weather update

â ď¸YELLOW WEATHER WARNING FOR SNOW AND ICE FOR WEDNESDAY AT 12 UNTIL THURSDAY 2359 (and don't trust any yellow snow)
Good afternoon everyone!
Well⌠today has been slightly warmer but only by 2°C, so letâs not get too excited. You might have taken off one glove, but letâs not pretend weâre suddenly in Spain.
But donât get used to it, because Wednesday and Thursday are sharpening their icy teeth as we speak. Cold Arctic air is ready to drop into Cornwall like itâs arriving for a surprise winter holiday.
And on Thursday, some places might not even get above 2°C all day.
Now THAT is what I call proper cold
More on that joy laterâŚ
đĽď¸ Tuesday Afternoon
As we slide into the later stages of the afternoon, the weather refuses to do anything exciting. Expect more scattered showers, patches of blue sky, and some sunny spells, but also because itâs Cornwall plenty of cloud hanging about like itâs waiting for a bus.
Temperatures: 7°C to 12°C
Winds: Northwesterly, breezy at times
Mood: âDo I need my coat or not?â Yes. Always yes.
đŚď¸ Tuesday Evening
This evening will bring more showers dotted around Cornwall, some of them on the heavier side. There may even be a last-minute dash of sunshine trying to force itself in before sunset at 16:27, but it wonât hang around long.
Temperatures will dip to around 5°C to 9°C, with that chilly Northwesterly breeze nibbling at your ears.
đ Overnight Into Wednesday And This Is Where the Weather Gets Spicy
This is where the atmosphere starts misbehaving.
Overnight, weâll have moderate to heavy showers, a few clear breaks, and then in the early hours a growing risk of wintry showers.
Yes, thatâs right⌠and flurries are on the cards for some areas.
Some of you may wake up to a gentle dusting of the âS-wordâ on your car. Not enough to cancel school, cause chaos or make the news⌠but enough to make you say, âOoh look, snow!â while you freeze your fingertips trying to take a photo.
Temperatures: â3°C to +5°C, dropping sharply before sunrise.
My stress level: Somewhere between âmild panicâ and âbooking flights to the Mediterranean.â
Honestly, the weather models are giving me a headache theyâre all arguing about whatâs happening high up in the atmosphere. Heavy showers? Sleet? Snow? Showers of confusion? They could pop up almost anywhere right tomorrow but there is a fine between snow/sleet and rain.
Donât worry Iâll have more updates later this evening⌠assuming I havenât given up and flown to Cyprus by then.
đž Smudge & Gusâs Weather Verdict
Smudge: âIf that cold Arctic air arrives, Iâm not going outside. Wake me up in April.â
Gus: âI saw one snowflake last year and screamed. Not doing that again. Please heat my blanket immediately.â
In summary, the cats are rating tonightâs weather a 2/10 too wet, too cold, and absolutely unacceptable for paw activity.
Kind regards,
KWT Dave
