Could you help shape the future of YMCA Cornwall?

We're looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help guide our charity as we support young people at risk of homelessness across Cornwall.

We're particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:
Property & Facilities Management
Legal & Compliance
HR & People Management
Or those with lived experience of homelessness.

The role is voluntary and requires around 2-3 hours per month.

The young residents at YMCA Cornwall are taking part in YMCA England & Wales' Building Futures Postcard Campaign, sharing their experiences of the housing crisis in Cornwall, directly with local MPs and government decision-makers.

Through these handwritten postcards, our young people will talk about the challenges and barriers they have faced finding affordable housing in Cornwall.

The messages will be collected from YMCA's all over the UK, and sent to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government and local MP's.

Because they are more than just a statistic. Every voice deserves to be heard.

Last week, our Youth Ambassador Dan travelled to YMCA Milton Keynes to learn about research and campaigning alongside other young people from YMCAs across the country.

Dan said: "It's given me more confidence to speak up about issues that matter to people like me, and I learned about researching and making a campaign. It was really good."

We're so proud of Dan for representing YMCA Cornwall and helping get young people's voices heard at national level.

We're proud to work closely with Growing Links and regularly signpost anyone experiencing homelessness or food poverty to their services when they need help.

Right now, Growing Links is facing a critical funding challenge and needs £10,000 to keep the Street Food Project running in September. They currently provide around 450 meals every week to people in our community who are struggling.

No one should go hungry.

Come and join us at The Cornish Oven, Scorrier, from 10am to 2pm today for a special charity day in support of YMCA Cornwall.

• Decorate gingerbread
• Meet the YMCA Cornwall team and residents
• Learn about our work supporting young people at risk of homelessness
• Make a donation to help change young lives

A huge congratulations to the Sedel-Collings Foundation on reaching £1 million in grants across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Over the past two years, their support of more than £18,000 has helped YMCA Cornwall provide vital support to young people at risk of homelessness.

Thank you to the Foundation, its trustees and Cornwall Community Foundation for helping us help young people in need across Cornwall.

Last week, our young residents enjoyed an unforgettable trip out on the water with Mermaid Pleasure Trips from Penzance Harbour.

They got up close to some of Cornwall's incredible marine life, spotting dolphins riding alongside the boat and seals relaxing in the bay.

Experiences like these give young people the chance to build confidence, create positive memories and enjoy everything Cornwall has to offer.
