A huge thank you to all the artists who generously donated their work, all the visitors and bidders who made time to look and chat and bid and finally to Matt who gave a great deal of time and support helping us get this show up and out there!

We raised an amazing £1515 which will get us through this month of renovations to get our essential work stations complete to run workshops, inductions, membership and private hire.

Thank you to everyone, it has been a great experience meeting you all, and so too learning more about each artist and their work.

Pleased do stay tuned! Updates will be posted here and so too how to purchase any work that wasn’t sold via bid!

All my best

ANNOUNCEMENT! 📢

It is with great excitement to share with you the news that I will be taking over the Imogen’s beautiful space this year, running and directing !

So who am I?

I’m a Cornish photographer based in west penwith, I grew up on the north coast of Cornwall in St.Merryn, falling in love with analogue photography by chance on my diploma at Truro College, going on to study fine art photogrpahy at Glasgow School of art and working in other community darkrooms along the way.

10 years on and I’ve amassed a great archive here at home and it is about time I gave way to a year of introspection and printing to work out book projects and exhibitions to share in the near future!

what does this mean for the future of the space?

For the time being I’m going to use my own practice as a means of shaping the studio toward archival standards, in the hope that in the future the space will be capable of supporting hand printing up to 20x24inch silver gelatin fibre based prints and a high standard of film development.

And so to working on the wonderful foundation imogen has built to keep providing specific workshops and inductions for those interested in learning the basics and more advanced aspects of analogue photography

So!

Keep your eyes peeled, give us a follow and turn on notifications for our posts! I’ll be posting updates and perhaps some introductions to my work in time🤍

All the best
Archie
I look forward to meeting you!

ROOT Workshop: Wednesday 16 July
11.00 - 15.00

A creative ritual connecting to the magic of Earth.
Learn how to make a Mud Developer and Sea water fixer. Chemical free alternatives to developing darkroom prints. You will then be guided to create a print or mini print series in the darkroom.

To Bring;

✨ A jar of earth

This could be from your garden, childhood home, from the pot of your favourite plant, from the home you’ve always lived or perhaps hope to live. The earth that connects you with feeling rooted and secure.

✨ A jar of sea water

This could be from the sea nearest to your home, or the sea you love to visit most or perhaps the sea you like to swim or surf in. The sea that connects you with a sense of home and belonging.

This workshop is for 1 or 2 people booking together. It’s perfect for beginners to the darkroom or beginners to plant-based darkroom practice. It’s also great for any person with a creative block and releasing feelings of being stuck.

You can bring your own negatives to create a print from, or you can bring objects to lay over the paper to make ‘Photograms’ or forage for objects in the darkroom studio and surrounding countryside.

This is a completely natural chemical free way of creating photographs and is suitable for all ages, stages and abilities.

All materials are provided and the workshop will last for 4 hours and you will make up to 4 prints to take home.

Free parking, wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Pet friendly!
