Cool Earth

Cool Earth We back people to protect rainforest and fight the climate crisis. We’re Cool Earth. Right now the world is in a climate crisis. And the best way to do that?

We exist to champion the relationship between people, rainforest and climate. We raise and give cash directly, and partner with indigenous people and local communities on projects that tackle the root causes of deforestation. People have lived in balance with the forest for thousands of years. The real rainforest experts, now face extreme injustice whilst living on the front line of the climate cr

isis. The most effective way to fight back is to protect the best carbon-storing technology that already exists: rainforest. Back, support and listen to the people living there with Cool Earth.

It's cool to care!

🌎 We're all inhabitants of Earth, so it’s our duty to care about our planet and everything that exists within it.

"There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle, because we do not lead single-issue lives. Our struggles are particular, but we are not alone.” - Audre Lorde

🫶 We believe caring for our natural environment starts with people. In particular, the people on the frontlines of climate action - Indigenous peoples and local communities living in the rainforest.

🌳 They protect the rainforest every day, which in turns protects all of us living across the globe.

This , share a message of support to Indigenous communities who help fight climate change in one of the most effective ways possible.

🤩 Another day trying not to envy our colleagues working in the rainforest because of the jaw-dropping scenery they get to appreciate up close.

Our Peru Rainforest Communications Coordinator, Andrea, shared some of the views that live rent-free in her head (we're sure there were too many to choose from!)

🏞️ Take a break from your day and appreciate these beautiful landscapes captured by Andrea.

We believe in people, rainforest, and climate action.

🌳 The rainforest is home to people and rich biodiversity. It’s a vital carbon sink that regulates our global climate and provides for us.

💚 Indigenous people and local communities have always protected the rainforest, keeping it healthy for thousands and thousands of years.

🌎 If we don’t support Indigenous and local communities, we threaten the health of rainforest, and in turn, we threaten our future.

That is why we fight to protect both.

Most people have realised by now that the recent weather in the UK is not normal. 🌡️ By 2050, we're expecting to have heatwaves of 40°C in the UK with global temperatures expected to rise by 2°C.

We are living in an unstable climate which is looking to only get worse if something doesn’t change now. This is all a direct effect of the climate crisis.

A report from the Climate Change Committee indicates that “the UK was built for a climate that no longer exists today and will be increasingly distant in years to come”. The 'old' climate is never coming back.

🌎 The UN General Assembly recently voted in support of countries recognising that climate action is a duty. This is a responsibility that everyone living on this planet should abide by.

There are many organisations, including Cool Earth, fighting for climate justice and your support is key. Climate deniers want us to give up, but there is always hope for a healthier future for us all.

We know that heatwaves are getting more intense because of climate change. And now with a possible El Niño on the way, this is about to push global temperatures even higher.

🌡️ Hitting temperatures above 30 degrees in spring is concerning enough, but going forward, we could be seeing even higher temperatures and intense heat affecting us in the UK.

This is not normal, but there are actions we can take together to make a difference. Healthy, thriving rainforests help cool our planet and protecting these vital biomes is one of the most effective ways to fight the rising heat and climate crisis.

🌳 Through our work, we help protect rainforest every day and you’re helping us do that right now by supporting our work.

🌎 Let’s work together to protect the greatest carbon sinks on Earth.

Rainforest is home to 50% of the world’s biodiversity, and this is protected by many species dwelling on the land 🌳

🦀 Here are five unsung animal heroes that help keep the rainforest alive and thriving!

Do you recognise any of these species?

When we think of climate-driven disasters, we often think of wildfires which the Asháninka experience the impacts of first-hand.

🔥 Through our work, we have been on a mission to support Indigenous communities to fight forest fires through the PAAMARI programme with Central Asháninka Río Ene: the only forest fire prevention program led by Asháninka communities.

🌳 Thanks to this community-led effort, it’s possible to protect thousands of hectares of critical rainforest, and defend a living biodiversity and culture that teach us that it’s possible to live with fire, whilst reducing wildfires.

Hear from Angel Pedro Valerio, President of Central Asháninka Río Ene, who reminds us why it’s urgent to continue strengthening PAAMARI.

👩‍🚒 Supporting PAAMARI means supporting life, territory, and the ancestral knowledge that protects the Amazon.
