We exist to champion the relationship between people, rainforest and climate. We raise and give cash directly, and partner with indigenous people and local communities on projects that tackle the root causes of deforestation. People have lived in balance with the forest for thousands of years. The real rainforest experts, now face extreme injustice whilst living on the front line of the climate cr

Four days. That's how long it took for fire to destroy 50 hectares of rainforest around Cutiverini, Peru.

This wildfire reached our partner communities and came very close to taking our programme building with it.

The building survived. 70 football pitches of rainforest didn’t.

🔥 Fire season has only just begun. Every week is another week where a fire like this one could spread unchecked.

And this year, El Niño conditions are building — longer dry spells, hotter temperatures — exactly the fuel fires need to spread fast and far.

👨‍🚒 But communities aren't powerless. Local fire brigades focused on prevention, early detection and rapid response can stop a fire before it spreads beyond control.

🧯 Having the right equipment and training can save lives and forest. Through our programmes, we’ll continue to provide support to rainforest fire brigades and protect vital land.

💡 Indigenous people and local communities hold generations of knowledge about managing forest ecosystems and are already delivering climate solutions every day.

🌎 Through their stewardship, forests are better protected, biodiversity thrives, and our climate is more stable.

This is the impact of logging.

🪓 In Papua New Guinea, rainforest communities are being pressured to allow logging on their land.

“Logging is happening right next to our land boundary, but we do not want them in our community.”

Communities are saying no, but the pressure is growing. If illegal and unsustainable logging goes ahead, millions of trees could be lost.

While loggers and extractive industries cash in from rainforest destruction, indigenous communities’ livelihoods are at threat.

🌳 Rainforests are vital, for the Indigenous and local communities that live there, and for the stability of our climate which the world relies on.

When communities have control, forests are protected. When that control is taken away, deforestation follows.

🤝 That’s why we give unconditional direct cash to people living in rainforests, so they have the income for essentials and the choice to say no to loggers.

Imagine being handed the bill for a crisis you didn't cause.

The countries hit hardest by climate change are being asked to take on more debt. This is unfair and climate injustice.

🌡️📈 Climate change is one of the drivers behind the current cost of living crisis, and failing to help tackle it now will cost the UK in the long-run.

We call on the government to continue financing vital conservation and sustainability work without piling economic pressure onto countries already struggling with debt and climate impacts.

Words matter. Actions matter more.

Three heatwaves in two months. More than 2,700 estimated heat-related deaths. Transport chaos and collapsing infrastructure from extreme heat.

🚨 This is a stark reminder that the UK needs to take climate action and adaption seriously.

As Andy Burnham steps into office as the UK's new Prime Minister, we hope climate stays high on the agenda, not just because it's essential for the planet, but because people across the UK are already feeling the effects of a changing climate through more frequent heatwaves, flooding, and extreme weather.

The UK has an opportunity to lead with ambition at home and abroad.

🌳🏛️ That means backing policies that protect nature, support communities, and support the vital role Indigenous Peoples and local communities play in safeguarding the world's rainforests.

The words are encouraging. Now we hope to see the leadership that matches them.

📰 72% of the articles that were released during UK’s record-breaking June temperatures had no mention of climate change or rising global temperatures. Less than 1 in 20 mentioned “net zero”.

This is not okay. Climate change shouldn't be a taboo topic nor should our media act like the impacts of the climate crisis aren't active today.

🌡️🏭 Extreme heat in the UK has been exacerbated due to human actions like burning fossil fuels and intensive agriculture. This has also been a by-effect of global forest degradation.

At times like this, it’s important that people are aware of how our actions have created these heatwaves and changes in our weather. But this hasn’t been the case in the UK media.

The climate crisis is no longer an event on the horizon; it’s here.

🗣️ We will not shy away from highlighting the climate crisis and will continue to recognise the impacts it’s having in the UK and globally whilst backing Indigenous people and local communities to continue protecting the rainforest.

Indigenous peoples and local communities have always protected the rainforest, nurtured it, and kept it healthy for thousands and thousands of years simply by living there.

💡 The ancestral knowledge these communities hold are essential to ensuring the best carbon sinks on earth stay that way.

El Niño is impacting people on the frontlines.

Due to the effects of El Niño, communities across Papua New Guinea are facing severe weather disruptions and crop failure from sudden frost in the highlands and coastal water shortages.

❄️ Severe overnight frost has damaged food gardens and crops, threatening the livelihoods and food security of families and affecting provinces that supply much of the country's fresh produce.

💧 Coastal communities also face significant water shortages from dry conditions and reduced rainfall, creating additional challenges for daily living and access to essential resources.

The threat of a super El Niño may prolong these weather conditions, worsening the situation in Papua New Guinea.

These challenges highlight the unfair impact on communities at the frontlines whilst not being the main drivers of the climate crisis.

🌳 Thriving rainforest communities are key to protecting the world's greatest carbon sinks, so this issue is greater than just affecting those living in PNG but, in the long term, has a global consequence.
