SITU Cumbria We are a charity based in Ullswater, Lake District. We run a community bus & encourage car-free days out!

We want to see a sustainable and integrated transport system for the Ullswater valley which will benefit residents, local businesses and visitors.

LET’S BREAK IT DOWN… 👇⬇️

We asked 200 passengers on the Ullswater Bus about their trip this summer 🚌 Here’s what they told us:

🚗 9 in 10 own a car, but chose the bus
🔄 Without it, 4 in 10 would have driven
📍 3 in 10 wouldn’t have made the trip at all
🙌 Their number one request? More transport options!

So what does that tell us? Give people a good way to get around and they’ll leave the car behind. The bus also does more than take cars off the road: it brings people into the valley who wouldn’t otherwise have come (which means opportunity for those who don’t drive or own driving licenses!)

The thing about SITU is… we’re ambitious…. So give us a follow and join in on our journey to making Ullswater THE car free place to visit 👏💪

Leave the keys on the hook and let someone else drive. You’ll look out the window instead of at the road, notice the lake, and arrive in a better mood. Better for you, better for the earth 🌍

CELEBRATIONS 🎉🍾

Yesterday Daniel & Michael celebrated the success of the Ullswater bus, with huge thanks to The Royal Countryside Fund for believing in us last year 💛

It was great to see Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, hearing about the Hopper Buses wonderful achievements. The fund really has provided us with the capacity to make a difference in our community. With the bus being used by over 10,000 passengers this year so far, it’s clear to see how funding, like this grant, can make big differences 🥹

Thank you to Rheged for hosting & the Dunning family for being so welcoming. It was a memorable afternoon.

And if you’re one for the many who have rode the bus over the last two years, then The Royal Countryside Fund are the people to thank 👏🏼🚌
