Adventure Complete. After 5 hours and over 23,000 steps, the boys managed to complete 34/44 locations and challenges, managing to come a respectable 11th place overall. Congratulations boys, I hope you enjoy your rest tonight!

We are off on an adventure! 6 of our boys are taking part in the Monopoly Challenge today in Edinburgh, best of luck to all teams taking part

Today teams of BB young people are heading into Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London and York for our Monopoly Challenge, which will see them racing around their chosen city to find various locations and take on challenges along the way - all the best to everyone taking part! 🙌

🌟 Penicuik, Help Us Build Our Next 50 Years! 🌟

For half a century, the 48th Edinburgh (Penicuik) Boys' Brigade has been a proud staple in our community, giving local boys a place to learn, grow, and belong.

After celebrating the retirement of two legendary, long-serving leaders, we are looking for fresh faces! To ensure our boys don't miss out on an action-packed programme, we need a new generation of local volunteers to step up and help carry the torch.

🎓 Studying Childcare, Education, or Youth Work? Step in to gain hands-on practical experience and build a standout CV.

🤝 Passionate about the community? No specific experience needed—just a willingness to get stuck in!

⏱️ 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Anchors & Juniors, ages 5–11):
Join a relaxed rota to help run games and activities.

⏱️ 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM (Company & Seniors, ages 11–18):
Act as a backup helper to cover any leader absences.

🚌 Event Chaperones & Drivers:
Tag along for the fun stuff! Help supervise trips (like the panto or ten-pin bowling) or assist with transport to regional events and Camps.

Whether you can spare a couple of hours a month or want to become a regular fixture, your support makes a massive difference.

Throwback Thursday with the 48th! 📸

Over the last month, the Company boys have been out and about enjoying a few end-of-year adventures - our annual trip to Peebles, a walk in the Pentlands, a BBQ at the Hall, and finishing things off with some Mini/Crazy Golf at Adventure Golf Island in Dunfermline.

A brilliant way to round off another great year!

A huge thank you to all the boys, parents, and leaders for making it another fantastic session.

👑 Congratulations Samuel – Our Latest King’s Man! 👑

Last night was a very special occasion as Samuel Fawcett became only the third young man in the history of the 48th Edinburgh Company to receive the King's Badge, the highest award achievable within The Boys’ Brigade.

This achievement reflects years of commitment, service and dedication, and we are incredibly proud of all that Samuel has accomplished.
We would also like to congratulate all of this year's King's Badge recipients and thank everyone involved in organising the presentation evening and supporting the young people throughout their King's Badge journey.

With the presentation taking place during Volunteers' Week, it was particularly inspiring to hear that this year's recipients collectively contributed almost 3,700 hours of volunteer service to their communities. A fantastic example of young people making a positive difference.

Finally, thank you to all of our volunteer leaders at the 48th Edinburgh, who give their time each week to help provide these opportunities for young people.

Well done, Samuel – a thoroughly deserved achievement! 👏

💙 Thank You from the 48th Edinburgh Boys’ Brigade! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Annual Display & Parents’ Night to support our boys and help us give Aileen Forbes the send-off she truly deserved.

What a brilliant evening it was! From Noah’s Ark, to Classic TV Gameshows, quizzes, PT and prize-giving, there really was something for everyone — and it was fantastic to see so many families, friends and supporters cheering the boys on.

We were also delighted to capture a special photo of some of the former leaders of the Company who were able to join us on the night — a lovely reminder of the many years of service, friendship and dedication that have shaped the 48th.

We didn’t manage to get many photos ourselves, so if you have any from the evening, please feel free to share them in the comments below.

🎉 It’s Annual Display & Parents’ Night Week! 🎉

This Friday, 15 May, we’re looking forward to welcoming parents, family and friends to Penicuik North Kirk for our 48th Edinburgh Boys’ Brigade Annual Display & Presentation of Prizes.

The evening starts at 7.30pm, with boys asked to arrive for 7.15pm in full BB uniform, including armband/badges, along with their smartest trousers and shoes.

It’s always a brilliant night as we celebrate everything the boys have achieved throughout the session — and we can’t wait to share it with you! 💙

No spoilers just yet — you’ll need to come along on Friday to see the full thing!

During the evening, there will also be an opportunity to contribute to a collection for Christian Aid, in memory of Jim Black, who gave many years of service as the PNK and Penicuik Churches Together coordinator for this important work.

The evening will also be a very special one as we say farewell to Aileen Forbes, who is retiring after nearly 50 years’ service to The Boys’ Brigade in Penicuik. Aileen has given so much to the 48th, and formerly the 4th Edinburgh at St Mungo’s Church, and we are incredibly grateful for her dedication, kindness and commitment over the years.

After the display, please join us in the back hall for tea, coffee, juice and possibly cake! 🍰

We expect to finish between 9.00pm and 9.30pm.

Come along, cheer on the boys, celebrate their achievements, and help us give Aileen the send-off she deserves! 💙

Well done to our Company Boys who took part in this year’s Top Team Challenge! 💙

While we didn’t place quite as high as last year, it was still a very good showing from the boys, finishing 115th and 213th out of 252 teams.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part — a great effort, and something to be proud of!

🧗‍♂️ Adventure Level: 100%! 🏹

What a fantastic weekend the 48th Edinburgh and 61st Edinburgh (Musselburgh) Boys' Brigade had at PGL Dalguise! 🌳

From scaling the climbing walls to hitting bullseyes in Archery, and from testing our wits with problem-solving to learning essential Survival Skills, our boys gave it their all. The teamwork and spirit on display were second to none!

A massive Special Thanks to Toni and the entire team at PGL Dalguise for hosting us and putting on such a brilliant adventure weekend. We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime!
