β˜•πŸ§ We're getting ready for the BIG Headway Cuppa at Headway Cardiff & South East Wales! β˜•πŸ§

Next week, our service users will be busy baking (and, of course, taste-testing! πŸ˜„) delicious homemade scones as we prepare to put the kettle on and enjoy a cuppa together.

The BIG Headway Cuppa is all about bringing people together while raising vital funds to support people affected by brain injury.

Why not get involved yourself? Whether it's a coffee morning with colleagues, tea and cake with friends, or a catch-up with family, every cuppa can help make a BIG difference.

We'll be sharing some photos of our freshly baked scones soon – if they last that long! πŸ˜‹

We'd like to give a warm welcome to Nia, who is joining us for the next four weeks as a volunteer!

Nia is currently studying Psychology at Cardiff University and will be volunteering at our centre, gaining hands-on experience and getting to know our service users and staff.

We're delighted to have her on board and hope she enjoys her time with us. 😊

πŸͺ¨Getting creative with pebble painting!🎨

Our service users enjoyed a relaxing and colourful pebble painting session last week.

Activities like these are a great way to encourage creativity and self-expression.

Safe to say this session was a real rock star! πŸ˜„

A huge thank you to Whitchurch High School for choosing to support Headway Cardiff & South East Wales!

We're delighted that students in Years 7–9 will be taking part in a charity run to raise funds for people affected by brain injury across South East Wales.

It's fantastic to see so many young people getting involved, challenging themselves and supporting a local cause.

Good luck to all the students taking part – we'll be cheering you on every step of the way! πŸƒπŸ’¨

πŸ“’ Research Participants Wanted 🧠

Are you a family member of someone affected by an acquired brain injury (ABI)? Or do you support families affected by ABI as a volunteer or member of staff?

Two Trainee Clinical Psychologists are currently carrying out research exploring how families adapt and stay socially connected following a brain injury, and they are looking for participants to take part in online interviews.

πŸ”Ή Staff and Volunteers
Researchers would like to hear from paid or voluntary staff who support families, carers and supporters affected by ABI. Interviews will explore experiences of fostering social connection for families.

πŸ”Ή Family Members
Researchers are also looking for family members (including close friends who consider themselves family) to discuss how they have adapted socially following a loved one's brain injury.

⏰ Interviews will take approximately one hour and take place via video call.

It was a pleasure to welcome Brian and his niece Caitlin to the centre this week.

Brian has been a great supporter of Headway Cardiff & South East Wales, fundraising in memory of his brother Lee, who attended Headway before his passing in 2020.

After previously raising funds through a sponsored climb of Pen y Fan, Brian recently took on the Caerphilly 10K, where he raised an amazing Β£505 to support people affected by brain injury. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

It was wonderful to show Brian and Caitlin around, introduce them to the team and share more about the work their fundraising helps to make possible.

Thank you, Brian, for your continued support and commitment to helping others affected by brain injury. We are incredibly grateful.

This week we say goodbye to our placement students - Arianna, Indy, Robyn, Louisa and Eva. βπŸ’™πŸ‘‹

Over the past nine months, they've become a valued part of our team, bringing energy, fresh ideas, and a positive attitude to everything they do. We're incredibly grateful for their hard work and the contribution they've made during their time with us - and some are staying on to help us out over the next few weeks.
