Did you know these 3 autumn plants are toxic to your dog or cat? 🍂

To keep your pet safe, try to avoid these plants in your garden where possible and keep an eye out for them on autumn walks. If you think your pet has eaten one, speak to a vet.

Happy Pet Day! 🐾 Today we’re celebrating the happiness our pets bring and how we can give some of that happiness back with toys 🧸

Toys aren’t just fun; they help support our pets' wellbeing by:
- easing boredom
- reducing anxiety
- keeping them active

But make sure you regularly check toys for signs of damage. If a toy becomes cracked, torn or starts breaking apart, replace it straight away to prevent choking, blockages, or injuries.

Return some happiness to your pet this with our vet‑approved toys, designed to make playtime fun, safe and enriching: https://pdsa.me/S8ow

[Visual description: Image one, a dog laying on the carpet with a toy in front of them, text says "Our pets bring us happiness every day", "and toys help us brighten theirs!" above them is the text " ". Image two, a dog with a toy in his mouth with the text "The right toys help stimulate our pet's brains, which means... less boredom and reduced anxiety". Image three, a dog chewing a toy caterpillar with the text "bored or anxious pet's are more likely to chew things they shouldn't or scratch furniture as an outlet. Toys = energy redirected into healthy outlets". Image four, a dog looking at a toy with the overlayed text "Toys also help our pets stay fit, the right amount of chasing, pouncing and tugging all help with healthy joints, muscles and weight".]

Happy ! Today we’re taking the opportunity to highlight some of the care rabbits truly need to be happy and healthy🐰

A balanced, high‑fibre diet and access to constant clean drinking water is essential for healthy, happy rabbits. Feeding the wrong foods can lead to serious problems like dental disease and gut stasis. Sudden diet changes can also upset their stomach, so always make changes slowly over 2-4 weeks.

⚠️ A common misconception is that treats and fruit are healthy for rabbits. They’re safe in moderation, but often high in sugar, which isn’t good for their teeth, guts or waistline.

Some greens are best fed in moderation because they can cause gas. You can read more about your rabbit’s diet here, including which foods should be limited: https://pdsa.me/BUbw

[Visual description: an infographic outlining what you should feed rabbits for a healthy diet, including hay, greens and rabbit nuggets, including what amounts of each are ideal: "Hay, ideally an unlimited amount but at least their own body size' for hay/grass, Greens, a handful, twice a day and rabbit nuggets, a tablespoon (2x daily over 3.5kg)]

Meet Bruno The Deaf Dog 🐾 He's deaf, and he's not alone. Some dogs are born deaf, while others can develop hearing loss later in life due to age or health issues.

There are many things you can do to help pets who are hard of hearing:
- Teaching hand signals instead of verbal commands helps with both training and building a strong bond.
- Keeping dogs on a lead outdoors, as they can’t hear recall like other pets.

The most important thing to remember is that if you’re adopting a deaf pet, or your senior pet is experiencing hearing loss, it’s okay to take things slow and adapt together.

Happy from Bruno, his family and Team PDSA 💕

Happy heavenly birthday to our charity’s founder, Maria Dickin 🎂

Long before PDSA began in 1917, Maria was a singing teacher with her own voice production studio in London. Then everything changed when she started her adventure with PDSA.

Today, we are remembering Maria, who worked tirelessly to provide a free service for pets in need and shape who we are today.

And here’s a little piece of history… PDSA didn’t begin asking supporters to consider leaving gifts in Wills until the 1930s, over 13 years after Maria founded us, as she searched for new ways to fundraise and keep her mission going.

We know she’d be thrilled to see how those gifts continue to help poorly pets today, and how her legacy still lives on through every act of kindness💕

It might feel early to be talking about fireworks, but it's best to be prepared months in advance.

Here are four steps to desensitise your pet from the loud bangs of fireworks to help them feel more comfortable 🎇

If you or your dog are struggling with this training, contact your vet or an accredited dog behaviourist for support.

Please can we remind people to not leave donations outside the front or back of store.

We will gratefully accept donations if they are handed to a member of staff during opening hours.
Mon-Sat 10-5pm and Sunday 10-4:30pm

Any donations left outside the store will need to be disposed off due to H&S risks.

This bag of items looked like it was lovely items that we could have really benefited from but Unfortunatly it was left outside, ripped open out in the rain overnight. It was also blocking a clearly labelled fire exit.

Thank You in advance for your help with this and thank you so much for all of your donations handed in to the store team they are very much appreciated.
