Great news!...Penarth Men’s Shed has established a committee, made up of members who are passionate about mens issues and are keen to build the group to take us forward into the future. We are aiming to become a formally constituted organisation, which will enable us to apply for grant funding to support mens wellbeing in Penarth and also to collaborate more closely with other like minded local community groups. We are also now registered with UK Men's Shed Association. Please get in touch via messenger if you would like to know more or get involved.
We can also now be contacted by email on:

The Summer of Sharing is here! ☀️

We can see it now…

The sun is out.
You’re sitting out on the patio.
You suddenly realise it definitely needs a tidy up.

Our Summer of Sharing campaign is officially live, and we can help with getting your home ready for whatever plans - big or small - that you’ve got in mind.

Get your outside spaces fresh and tidy without the spend, the clutter, or the impact on the environment by borrowing what you need from us.

Shed member Neil Davis will lead what promises to be a very interesting and informal photo book and chat session based on his scenery and special effects work in the film and television industry

Entitled:
"You want me to make what?"

Training in product design Neil then worked in the pre computer era making models, props and special effects for all manner of projects in advertising, television and film. Neil now lives in Penarth and freelances as a photographer.

Today we welcomed a visit to our regular meeting at Penarth Yacht Club PYC from friends at Newport Men's Shed, who gave us a really helpful insight into the development of their long standing group and what they offer to the communities of Newport. Following this we had a lovely sunny walk along the promenade to check out the invaluable Benthyg Penarth Library of Things.

We will be hosting a visit by members from Newport Men's Shed at our meeting at 10am on Wednesday 27th May. This will be a great opportunity to hear about a positive example of how Men's Sheds develop and provide support for mens health in their community. Penarth Yacht Club PYC

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week 💛

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year, which means most of us know someone who may be struggling — whether we realise it or not.

Sometimes the small things can make a big difference:
• checking in with someone
• inviting someone along
• having a conversation
• sharing a cup of tea
• helping someone feel included
• simply being there

At UK Men’s Sheds, we already know the value of community, connection and belonging. Research has shown that being part of a Shed can positively impact wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation.

This week, we’re celebrating the small actions and everyday moments that help people feel connected and supported 💛

What are some of the things you do to support your own wellbeing or help others feel connected? Let us know in the comments 👇
