Tunbridge Wells Scouts

Tunbridge Wells Scouts The page of Royal Tunbridge Wells Scout District As well as the weekly meetings groups take part in a number of fun and exciting events.

Tunbridge Wells District includes Southborough, Rusthall, Speldhurst and Langton, Broadwater and Pembury and everything in between. Each week over 900 young people aged 6 – 18 enjoy a hugely enjoyable and active programme at one of the 14 groups across the town. Recent events have included micro lighting, archery, climbing, hill walking, canoeing, camping, land yachting, paintballing, zip wires, go karting – in fact you name it and we’ve probably done it.

A visit to London today for our Jamboree team where our local MP Mike Martin took us on a tour around some of the inner workings of government. We visited Portcullis House through security then on via the underground tunnels into the Palace of Westminster. First we visited historic Westminster Hall (where early governments were formed and the late Queen and many other dignitaries have lain in state). Then into the central lobby between chambers and up to the members gallery in the House of Lords to listen to some of today’s debate on the Crime and Policing Bill. Then tea on the terrace with a Q&A for the team to ask more about how Westminster works and Mike asking just as many questions about their journey to WSJ26 in Poland (as a former Scout we think he was quite envious!).

Here’s a sneak preview of one of the attractions coming to our St George’s Day celebrations! 🇬🇧

We know St George’s Day isn’t actually on May 10th — but due to transport arrangements, that’s when we’ll be celebrating this year.

Full details will be shared with leaders later this week, so keep an eye out!

At their recent Christmas camp - members of Calverley scouts recorded this years Christmas single - it might not have beaten Kylie to the number one spot - but we think it’s worth sharing - happy Christmas from 14th RTW Calverley Scouts.

It was great to bring our Jamboree team and parents together at Adamswell this evening to get to meet each other, to talk more about the journey they’re starting and share fundraising ideas. Even better to hear that they’ve already planned their first fundraising event at an upcoming Christmas fair!

This weekend saw 17 young people from across the District attend our Selection Camp to attend the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland. Young People undertook a number of challenges over the weekend, whilst being observed by the selection team.

Following a long discussion by the selection team yesterday evening, we are delighted to be able to announce that Josh, Samantha, Hannah and Tom have been selected to represent Tunbridge Wells at the Jamboree.

Congratulations to all of you!

We would like to thank all the Young People who attended this weekend. If you were not successful, please don’t see this as a failure or anything you did wrong. Every one of you were brilliant and I hope you will take advantage of future international opportunities we will be offering in the District.
