Troon Men's Shed is inviting the local community to come along for a ‘brew and a blether’ at their ‘shed’ in The Lighthouse Christian Centre (Ailsa Road, Troon KA10 6DB) on Monday 15th June 2026 between 2pm and 3.30pm to find out what Men’s Sheds are all about as part of national Shed Open Doors Week 2026.

Anyone is welcome to drop in, have a cuppa, meet members, and learn more about how Men’s Sheds are helping men live healthier, happier, and more connected lives. There will also be the opportunity to hear about the plans for the old Hosiery Park Pavilion building which Troon Men’s Shed have applied to acquire as a Community Asset Transfer request from South Ayrshire Council.

Shed Open Doors Week is organised by the Scottish Men's Sheds Association (SMSA), Scotland’s leading men’s health and wellbeing charity, and celebrates the positive impact Men’s Sheds have on men and their communities across the country.

Our visitors are so important to us! Your visit is what keeps us going as every penny of your train ticket, cup of tea purchase, or event ticket is fed back into restoration work, improvements and running costs.
It keeps us going for more people to come learn about the Doon Valley industrial railway, and to enjoy the hard work our volunteers put in!

LATE NEWS: due to technical problems with the steam traction engines, they will not now be visiting Dunaskin tomorrow. If you were coming specially to see them, we recommend that you go to Dalmellington Community Centre in the morning, where they are parked up for the night. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused. The Doon Valley Railway will still be open, with trains running from 11.30 till 2.15pm.
