Nidderdale Charity Walk & Run Sunday 17th May 2026

Nidderdale Charity Walk & Run Sunday 17th May 2026 A charity walk organised by the ROTARY CLUB of HARROGATE to enable individuals and organisations to

The Rotary Club of Harrogate has been organising the Nidderdale Charity Walk for 31 years and it has proved to be a great success year after year. Walkers have raised in excess of £1 million for their chosen charities.

29/05/2026

We had 415 people who paid to walk or run this event. Most were supporting a charity. The numbers have now been crunched to determine which charities will be invited to our presentation event at the Cedar Court Hotel in early July. The best supported charity had over 60 supporters! I will be contacting those charities over the next few days with the good news.
Next year's event will be on Sunday 16th May.

Today’s the day! The course is all set up and the Scout Hall is ready to receive your registration forms. There is (or soon will be) refreshments at the various checkpoints. There could be the odd shower or two on the way but otherwise things are looking great. See you at registration!
And remember some cash for the Riverside Car Park (£3).
Have a good day!

Only 3 days to go! Online entries will close on Friday evening. After that it will be pay-on-the-day.
Please download the Ts&Cs from the website and read them. Complete one of the two registration forms and bring it with you. One is for adults with children, the other just for adults.
Note that the car park is off Low Wath Road just after the caravan park. Do not use the showground car park, or try to drive up to the Scout Hall.
And dogs are not allowed on the walk. Sorry about that, but we have to keep our reputation with the landowners - or the event might be running for the last time!
See you on Sunday!

By this time next week we will have returned from setting everything up for the charity walk! The Scout Hall will have all the registration desks set up together with desks for welcome-to-the-event, pay-on-the-day and buy-your-T-Shirt. Later on, there will be refreshments for tired walkers (and runners) who have completed their tasks.
The teams will have been out, walking the routes and placing way markers where they are needed.
The day of the event, more teams will setup the checkpoints where your walker numbers will be recorded and where you can get drinks and nibbles. Some will have cake! Lofthouse Village Hall will have tables and chairs, but don't tarry too long or it may make restarting more difficult!
I will send out final instructions in the middle of next week to those who have already registered. You are not too late to register now - if we know you are coming, then we can cater more accurately. And I can send you the final instructions.
Register now at www.nidderdalewalk.com.
See you on the 17th!

Just 18 days to go before the day! The weather is looking good. Now is the time to get your entries in. Some people leave it to the day to just turn up, which is ok apart from one thing - making the arrangements for food and supplies. SO let us know that you are coming and we can be prepared!

Just five weeks to go before the big day! Entries are now rolling in after a sluggish period in March. Will they beat the 2025 figure of just 500? We will have to see. Visit the website nidderdalewalk.com to get your entry in. Support your favourite charity if you so wish.

Well the weather has certainly been better these last couple of weeks. I’ve been back out walking and getting in shape for some serious walks this year.
It’s time to commit to the Nidderdale Walk - it’s only 10 weeks away now. Get your entries in and support your favourite charity!
Many of our members were volunteering at the St Michael’s Hospice 5k/10k last weekend and what a great event it was. If you were there, then come and enjoy our country version - it’s a 6k to 40k walk or run!

The first new charity for the 2026 walk is Horticap. They are one of the charities that help us with our tree planting project, Trees For Nidderdale. They have supported the walk for several years, but now we hope they will have even more support and raise even more money for their excellent activities. Their website is horticap.org.
Is your charity promoting the walk to their supporters? Message me through nidderdalewalk.com and I will add you to our web page.
