York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is developing the Mayor's Local Transport Plan for York and North Yorkshire. This plan will set out the long-term vision for improving transport across the region, helping people to travel more easily, safely and sustainably.

They are currently running a consultation and want to hear your view on the plan.

Weekend Walking Route - Scar House Reservoir Heritage Trail

Why not explore the fascinating history of Scar House Reservoir this weekend, this 7km circular enables you to enjoy the remote beauty of Scar House and Angram reservoirs, appreciate the labours of the men and women who lived and worked here during the reservoirs construction, and see how innovative approaches to farming are helping vulnerable species and habitats to thrive.

This is also the last few weekends of the DalesBus Summer services, so why not ditch the car and ride the 821 DalesBus to Scar House Reservoir.

If you're visiting Nidderdale this weekend, please remember to follow the countryside code, keep dogs on leads and never light fires.

At Daleview Dairy in Lofthouse, FiPL support has helped a farming family develop a new ice cream business, contributing towards production equipment and the planting of a small fruit orchard.

Elsewhere, FiPL has supported everything from nature recovery to regenerative grazing, with more than 250 projects already backed across Nidderdale.

Are you brave enough to break "The Curse of the Cosmos"?

Join astronomers from the Tree Observatory & Planetarium for a night of astronomy that's sure to send shivers down your spine. Guided by Professor LeGrange and his goblin sidekick Moonlugs, visitors will be taken on a tour of the universe in search of creepy objects that must be found in order to lift the curse that has been cast upon them.

For witches and wizards who have seen the show in previous years, we now follow a different storyline and visit different objects throughout the show.

This show is suitable for ages 5 and upwards. Halloween costumes are not compulsory but are encouraged.

Tickets are available from 9:00am on Saturday 3rd October, they are bound to sell out quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment

Would you like to sing while strolling through Nidderdale's beautiful countryside?

This Saturday, Cathy the Curlew will be joining families on the Curlew Way pilgrimage, a special walk celebrating the iconic curlew and our local landscape. Members of the Curlew Choir will also be joining for a few songs along the way.

Whether you're coming for the singing, the wildlife or the fresh air, you'll be very welcome.

Moorlands across Nidderdale National Landscape are currently a spectacular sight to behold, carpets of purple cover huge areas of moorland as the heather blooms for the next few weeks.

Do you farm or manage land in Nidderdale?

There’s a practical on-farm event coming up at Summerstone Estate, Lofthouse, looking at how grazing systems can be adapted to cope with hotter, drier summers.

Out in the Drought: Protecting Production with Summer-Dry Grazing takes place on Tuesday 15 September, 10am-3pm and will include a workshop, farm walk and discussion led by grazing consultant John Bailey of PâtureSens.
