Blazey, Par and Tywardreath Club
For Deaf and Hard of Hearing People
aims to be an inclusive club which shall seek to promote the social life and the welfare of the deaf and hard of hearing person; to increase the awareness of the needs and difficulties of those who are disabled by a loss of hearing; and to help the deaf and hard of hearing person join more fully in the life of their local communi
ties. Hearing people who are interested in and sympathetic to those disabled by a loss of hearing shall be welcomed into the club. The Club is for the mutual support of people who have lost some or all their ability to hear sound and who may as a consequence become socially isolated. The primary aim of the Club is to cater for the needs, in particular social needs, of the deaf or partially deafened person. The Club is there for you to make friends! The Club seeks to give members and guests the means to meet through the creation of a venue and through events and activities to enable members to gain social inclusion, support, and to empower the deafened person in the community. Members of the Club together with their guests are expected to show consideration and respect to each other. In particular, you are asked to offer patience with understanding and awareness of the needs of the deafened person. Don’t shout! The Club is open to all regardless of race, gender, age or disability. Children under the age of 14 years should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Club shall aim to offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space. The need for privacy shall be respected. The Club asks for tolerance and understanding, but also with a charity and forgiveness towards trespass. Threatening, abusive or disruptive behaviour is not acceptable: such behaviour from a member or a guest will result in that member or guest being asked to leave. If a member is not able to support the club under the framework provided by these guidelines, then that member may be asked to consider resignation from membership. The Club is for all our enjoyment. Let’s have fun!
