MPower Kernow MPower Kernow CIC is a social enterprise technical and engineering training centre based in St.Blazey in Mid Cornwall.

We currently deliver level 1 engineering training to those not in work and workshops for schools and groups.

Tomorrow, Sunday 27th will see the turntable in use for turning locomotive 34028 “Eddystone”. This is the last scheduled steam locomotive on the turntable this year and is pulling the “Royal Duchy” train from Bristol to Par.

It’s due to arrive at the turntable just after 14:00, and can be viewed from both public areas - and for a better view, cup of tea, and a donation - you can watch from the MPower compound.

We will also have the “Puffing Devil”, replica of the world’s very first self-propelled vehicle, designed and built by Cornish Engineer, Richard Trevithick, next to the turntable.

This is the final day of a very successful MEGA week which has celebrated the completion of MPower’s first phase known as “Operation Trevithick”.

This first phase has created a training centre for teaching practical technical skills and has also restored the Grade 2* Listed Railway Turntable.

The turntable enables the direct descendants of Trevithick’s very first locomotive to return to the ~county~ country (!) of the steam locomotive’s birth.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow… and remember to bring a brolly, wellies and cagoules!!

Mpower Kernow invites you to our 'Local Business Day' on Friday 25th September 2026 from 10.00-15.00. The business day forms part of our MEGA (Make Engineering Great Again) week and we are looking for businesses who can take on our trainees once they have completed their training.

Mpower Kernow works with trainees who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) and provides them with a pathway to gainful employment.

**THERE IS NO COST TO YOU AS A SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZE BUSINESS**.

🚂 🚂 🚂 MPOWER MEGA WEEK IS HERE 🚂 🚂 🚂

Our Family Fun Day on Saturday 26th September will have a display of vehicles that represent 225 years of transport - from 1801 to the present day… amazing that it all STARTED HERE IN CORNWALL! 〓〓

We are very grateful to the Trevithick Society for the loan of “Puffing Devil” - the replica of the WORLDS FIRST VEHICLE! Did you know, this is where the song “Going up Camborne Hill” comes from! 🎼 🎵 🎶 〓〓

Our small Fowler diesel loco has been positioned by the turntable and we have installed steps to make the cab accessible 🚂

Please note that there are NO PARKING FACILITIES ON SITE. If travelling from further afield, we recommend coming by train and walking around from Par Station (10mins).

The preparations for MEGA Week are gathering pace;

- A massive traction engine called “Hero” is the first of our classic vehicles to arrive on site ready for our family fun day on the 26th… with more exciting vehicles to arrive - watch this space! 🚂

- The technical team are putting the finishing touches to the welding shop build. They have been assisted by some of our former trainees helping as volunteers and gaining useful work experience. The new sliding doors look awesome guys!! 👍👩‍🏭

- The hot water system has also been upgraded - some of our former trainees have been volunteering and lending a hand with this important plumbing project too! 🔨 🔧 👨‍🔧

- It’s all hands to the pump for our volunteers, young and not-so-young, with weeding, painting and tidying the site💪👨‍🌾 🪏
