Ralston Seniors Club recently had another visit from the children from Ralston Nursery. A great time was had by all as the children firstly entertained the members with their favourite songs.

The members then took part in a mini Olympics the children had arranged for them with lots of laughter as the members took part in a potato relay race and bean bag on the head passing race with some members having more success than others as you will see from the pictures!

The members were all presented with medals for taking part by the children and the volunteers were given a trophy before the children left for the nursery. There were cuddles all round as a lasting memory of the day until the children’s next visit.

The Club recently welcomed Local Vocals to entertain the members.
Though small in number they make up for it in the enthusiasm they always have to sing their hearts out in songs that the members can join in with heartily.

Ralston Seniors Club had the 20 strong Neilston Strings along to entertain our members last friday.
There were big smiles amongst the players and members with lots of foot tapping and actions to reflect the excellent songs!

No one is immune to targeting by organised scamming gangs, however the elderly can feel more vulnerable and need to be extra vigilant.
That was the message delivered to members on Friday by guest
speaker Alison Cluney, Money Adviser with Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau.

Members were presented with examples of some of the most common scams – many
purporting to be from respected companies and organisations, and they were given advice on some of the key points to look out for. These included:
Always check the validity of any email address by clicking on it
Be suspicious of poor grammar and spelling
Other useful advice when dealing with telephone or email scams included:
Never give out personal details or passwords
Do not open attachments
Never be pressurised into money transfers.

Here are a couple of photos of the chair Zoomba that is led by Linda Kelly.

Ralston Seniors Club recently welcomed back Pauline Vallance to entertain us playing her clarsach and flute and singing the members favourite scottish songs. We also welcomed another new member to the Club to join our growing group of local elderly men and women who meet every friday morning at St Marks Church in Paisley.

The church had experienced power failure but all the members wrapped up well and the volunteers ensured the usual chair zumba could take place thanks to battery back up and hot soup and tea and coffee was served with lunch thanks to the gas hobs.
If anyone is interested in joining us please call us on 07721 911234.

The Ralston Seniors Club were entertained last friday afternoon by local Rabbie Burns expert David Vennard.
David has been to entertain RSC before but this time gave us a mini Burns Supper with poems and songs finishing off by reciting Tam o’Shanter dressed as the Bard himself riding on his trusty steed Meg complete with detachable tail!
The new record number of attending members clapped and cheered and joined David in his rendition of several favourite Burns songs.

An excellent time was had by all and we look forward to welcoming David back later in the year to entertain us with another of his historic tales.

This week one of our members Lachie will tell us about his time growing up on the Isle of Lismore.

Before lunch on a Friday the members can come and participate in some chair Zumba led by Linda Kelly. It is proving very popular with nearly all the members who are finding it beneficial. On Friday there we had our highest attendance as Raslton Seniors Club, with a few regulars not able to come.

Ralston Seniors Club started back for the new year on Friday with a wonderful first session.
There was the visit of the Bearsden Fiddlers , with the members thoroughly enjoyed themselves singing and clapping along.
We had a new member starting.
We also heard the good news that funding has been secured for the next two years.
What a way to start the new year!!
