Paisley Society of Model Engineers

Paisley Society of Model Engineers Paisley SME have met in Barshaw Park since 1972, where we offer train rides for visitors to the park and promote interest in model engineering as a hobby.

The society was founded in 1955 as the Rolls Royce Model Engineering Club, part of the Rolls Royce Welfare Organisation. The club met at and operated a 5" guage track at Crookston Road Recreation Ground until 1971. The sale in 1971 of the Crookston Road site for housing lead to the society moving to Barshaw Park in 1972. Passenger services began on the rebuilt track in 1973, and have operated every summer since.

Sadly we're rained off again this afternoon, though we did manage to open for a hour. We'll be back again next Saturday.

The rain has won again this afternoon, but thank you to everyone who came to trip on the train while we were able to run.

Weather permitting we'll be open again next Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately the rain has beaten us this afternoon. Thanks to everyone who made it for a trip round the park before the weather arrived.

All being well we'll be back on track next Saturday.
