May at Sewing2gether All Nations - 31 activities, 588 places, 406 unique participants and 16 volunteers. It was an incredibly busy month, with many workshops focusing on our community arts programme, with the work to date almost ready to be exhibited for the Refugee Festival Scotland on June 17th!

"Reflections & Portraits: Faces of Belonging" is our inclusive All Nations 2gether Community Arts Programme for 2026. Workshops are being held across Renfrewshire in a diverse range of groups and organisations, both in-house, outreach workshops and at Gala days and Festivals.

​Participants are invited to explore identity, self-image, and self-expression by looking into a mirror and creating a self-portrait. It’s not just about facial features—it’s about seeing yourself with kindness, strength, and story. Reflecting on who you have been, and who you are, and who you wish to be, celebrating achievements and aspirations. These sessions are suitable for all levels with no artistic experience necessary. Emphasis is placed on the reflective process over creative perfection.

Take some time for yourself to create, reflect, and connect in this relaxing and inspiring creative session.

🎨 Create your own self-portrait on canvas using a sewing machine to stitch, design, and embellish your unique piece.

🧵 Your artwork will become part of something bigger — with all finished pieces sewn together into a community tapestry celebrating inclusion and belonging.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week at our Women’s Sewing Workshop 💚

This week we marked Mental Health Awareness Week by sharing with our group the beautiful completed photo‑art piece created following our workshop with Open Aye.

After a creative morning preparing artwork for Refugee Festival Scotland, we joined the Renfrewshire Anti‑Stigma Alliance for Wellbeing in the Park — walking a mindful mile around the Fountain Gardens together.

A gentle, uplifting day of creativity, connection and community.

We had a fantastic first workshop of 2026 with Angela Mitchell from Changeworks, providing some great tips in an energy saving information advice session.💡

Then we made dozens of beautiful floral wreaths to brighten our living spaces as we await spring! 🌼 🌸

We might have been quiet online… but we’ve been busy in real life.

Throughout 2025, Sewing2gether All Nations: Caring Creating Connecting was hard at work — delivering activities for and with the refugee community, supporting individuals, partnering with other local groups and organisations, and working alongside incredible volunteers who help make this organisation thrive.
